Adolescent mental health is an important issue in modern society and an important aspect of promoting the health of the whole nation. This study analyzes the parent-child relationship, school adaptation and depression from three aspects, discusses the relationship among the three, and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions,to provide reference for promoting the physical and mental health development of adolescents.Based on the 2013-2014 baseline survey data of China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS),this paper investigates the effects of parent-child relationship and school adaptation on adolescent depression through factor analysis,OLS regression model, multilayer linear model and semi-structured interview. The findings:First,parent-child relationship has a significant negative predictive effect on adolescents’ depression: the better the parent-child relationship is,the lower the risk of adolescents’ depression is.Second, school adaptation has a mediating effect on adolescent parent-child relationship and depression.Parent-child relationship can significantly negatively predict depression and positively predict school adjustment. When school adjustment was included, the relationship between parent-child relationship and depressive mood weakened.Parent-child relationship can not only directly affect depression, but also indirectly affect depression through the mediating effect of school adaptation.Thirdly, adolescents’ depression is not only affected by individual and family factors, but also by class-level factors.Good class atmosphere gives teenagers positive psychological suggestion, plays a positive group effect and reduces the risk of depression. And higher overall grades increase peer pressure among teenagers, which increases the risk of depression.Fourthly, there are group differences in the risk of depression among adolescents. There are significant differences not only in gender, urban and rural areas, grade and whether they are the only child, but also in parental relationship, father’s educational background and family discipline.According to the above research results, this study believes that to reduce the risk of adolescent depression needs the joint efforts of the whole society: first,to cultivate a good parent-child relationship.Parents of teenagers should cultivate a positive and healthy family culture, and maintain a respectful, equal and inclusive attitude when getting along with their children,so as to create a good family environment for the healthy growth of minors.Second, schools should implement the "double reduction" policy.Appropriately reduce the academic pressure of teenagers, teachers should pay more attention to students’ mental health status, timely dredging students’ negative emotions.Third, the whole society should pay more attention to adolescent mental health problems,so as to achieve early detection, early treatment and early rehabilitation of adolescent mental health problems. |
