Because of the unique geopolitical environment in the South China Sea,the South China Sea policy is regarded by the USA as a momentous part of its Asia-Pacific policy.After the cold war,the United States in the south China sea issue has experienced the neutral surface of the Clinton administration but the actual intervention,the Bush administration's strategic layout of the south China sea,and then to the Obama administration public intervention phase.By combing the development of the South China Sea policy of the three U.S.administrations after the cold war,we find that the U.S.South China Sea Policy after the cold war has a certain historical continuity.After Trump took office,the US has made a major adjustment in its China policy,but due to the inertia of the policy and the US hegemony strategy,the Trump administration has largely inherited and continued the South China Sea policy of its predecessor.To safeguard the so-called "freedom of navigation" rights in the south China sea region,seek print area powers strategic balance and instigate the relations between China and the countries around the South China Sea and safeguard the US hegemony in the Asia Pacific region and even in the world,the Trump administration has made a strong intervention in the South China Sea issue with the help of the "Indo-Pacific Strategy".It is trying to pull the countries around the South China Sea to contain China.It is using the South China Sea issue to build the so-called "NATO" in the Asia-Pacific region and to enhance the military presence of the United States in the South China Sea and neighboring countries.Compared with the previous US governments after the Cold War,the policy of the Trump administration on the South China Sea is obviously characterized by uncertainty,instability and diversity of means.Its policy towards China on the South China Sea issue mainly focuses on military deterrence and military intervention,which is extremely risky.The aggressive and risky policy of the Trump administration on the South China Sea has further deepened the confrontation at the strategic level between China and the US,damaged the relations with relevant countries in the South China Sea,and seriously deteriorated the security environment around the South China Sea and even the Asia-Pacific region.
