In recent years, the aging of our country's population has continued to deepen. At the same time, with the development of society, the small family model has become the mainstream, and more and more elderly people live separately from their children. It has become a relatively common phenomenon for the elderly to live alone, especially the urban elderly.Living alone for a long time, the elderly are prone to negative emotions such as loneliness and sadness. The support of the elderly peers can increase the communication between the elderly living alone in the city and their peers, and effectively meet the spiritual needs of the elderly living alone.Based on the acquisition of a certain understanding of the elderly in the JL community, this study conducted interviews with elderly people living alone.Based on the results of the interviews, the Questionnaire on Peer Support for Elderly Living Alone in the City was designed, and 31 elderly people living alone in the community were selected to conduct a survey to understand their peer support status from four aspects: material support, information support, interpersonal support, and emotional support. After investigation, research and analysis,it is found that the single elderly living in the JL community has a single form and content of peer support, unstable peer support, low frequency, and weak peer support. On this basis,it is necessary to enrich and expand the content and form of peer support activities, increase the frequency of peer support to maintain stable support, play the role of peer support and enhance the support effect. The author also analyzes the advantages and principles of group work serving the peer support of the elderly living alone in the city.On the basis of investigation and analysis, this study carried out peer support group work services for elderly living alone in urban areas on the basis of social support theory and group dynamics theory,to help urban elderly living alone in solving problems and achieving peer support goals.A total of eight group activities were carried out.During the group preparation period, social workers screened and recruited qualified group members based on the collected information on the current status of support for the elderly living alone in the community, assessed their specific needs, and determined the group's overall goal. From this, the general goal of the group was determined, which was then refined into sub-goals and a group plan was developed.During the group formation period, social workers actively guide and assist the group members to get to know each other,so that the group members gradually form a peer support relationship during the two group activities. In the three activities of the group transition period, social workers timely coordinated the conflicts of the group members, encouraged the group members to help each other, and strengthened support through multiple content and forms, and cultivated the support ability. In the two activities of the maturity period of the group, social workers encourage and support group members while maintaining good interaction in the group, urging them to establish a peer support network. Finally, during the end of the group, the social worker assisted the group members to review the group activities and consolidate the results of the group. The observation method and questionnaire method are used in the group evaluation to understand the satisfaction of the group members to the group and to evaluate the effect of achieving the group's goals.Research on the work of the peer support group for the elderly living alone in the city can help the elderly living alone construct a social support network and enrich the ways of supporting the elderly. At the same time, using the group's own advantages can promote the formation and development of peer support for group members. However, the author still finds that it is necessary to enhance the effect of the group members' peer emotional support dimension, further strengthen the use of external resources for the elderly living alone, and focus on meeting the individual needs of the group members.
