In the face of the grim situation of the aging population,affected by the changing of family structure,the rapid socioeconomic development and so on,the number of elderly people living alone is growing rapidly.China's pension system has been gradually improved.The spiritual needs of the elderly living alone also attracted the attention of the state and the society.Compared with the rural elderly,based on their original living conditions,culture backgrounds and values,urban elderly people living alone tend to pursue spiritual needs and have a stronger sense of loneliness.However,there are a lot of problems in the spiritual consolation of urban elderly people living alone,such as the lake of self-regulation consciousness,the deficiency of family supports,the lake of neighborhood comfort and the insufficiency of community consolation.Compared to other methods of social work,group work is more suitable for this kind of service.And it has unique advantages in the integration of resources,promoting social integration and adaptation of old people and helping them build mutual networks.Therefore,according to the Maslow's hierarchy of needs,social support's theory,activity theory and role theory,combined with existing practice,this paper studied the group work practice of the spiritual consolation of urban elderly people living alone using literature research,participatory observation and interview.It also proposed several suggestions on the optimization of group work practice in this kind of service.It includes the combination of case work and group work,the platform thinking of resource Integration,the innovation of intervention program involved activity design,selection of methods and members constitute,and so on.
