With the improvement of material conditions and life experience of people, more and more impoverished children got the opportunity to enter colleges, they completed higher education,in the mean time, achieved intergenerational class mobility. However, the widening gap between the poor and the rich and the increasingly prominent class consolidation made it a more common phenomenon that impoverished families can hardly nurture rich sons. The children born in the higher class received more educational resources and got better academic achievements at all grades in school than the children from the lower class. The study found that the main reason for this phenomenon is no longer the economic poverty, but non-economic poverty of weak desire for further studies and low academic persistence of poor people. They thought education is high input and low output, the way that to change the fate by education is narrower and narrower, rougher and rougher. In fact, education still plays an important role in the social mobility of the lower class.Arousing the ambition of lower class students and solving their mental poverty has become the top priority.Based on this, this research focuses on the influence of social class on academic persistence and intend to predict the motivation and willingness of the upward mobility of young people through academic persistence, exploring the psychological mechanism of the influence of class on academic persistence. In summary, the aim of this study is to build a moderated mediating effect model that social class as independent variable, academic persistence as the dependent variable, attribution for wealth and poverty as the mediator variable, and perception of class mobility as the moderator variable,to explore the role of attribution for wealth and poverty and perception of class mobility in the relationship of social class and academic persistence. Then designs two studies to examine the model.Study 1 contains two specific studies. The first study uses the data from China Education Panel Survey, selects appropriate indicators, and investigates the relationship between social class and academic persistence. It was found that there was a significant positive correlation between social class and academic persistence. The lower the social class, the lower their academic persistence. The second study selected 500 junior high school students and used questionnaires to explore the mediating effect of attribution of rich and poor. The results found that social class still has a significant influence on academic persistence, and the attribution of rich and poor plays an intermediary role between the two, that is,social class affects the attribution of rich and poor and thus affects students’ academic persistence.Using the experimental method,Study 2 introduces the perception of class mobility as a moderator variable,320 participants in total were manipulated to adjust their class mobility perception,Model 7 of process plug-in of SPSS macro program to test whether the overall model of moderated mediation is established. It turns out that the overall model of moderated mediation is valid, but only under the conditions of the attribution of wealth as the moderator variable. When the perception of class mobility is low,the intermediary path is established. The low class people show lower academic persistence due to higher proficiency external attribution tendency, and when the perception of class mobility is high, the perception of class mobility weakens the intermediary effect. The difference in academic persistence between higher and lower class is not significant.
