Research On The Participation Behavior Of China#Metoo From The Perspective Of Empowerment

#MeToo is an online discourse campaign launched by women to fight sexual harassment.Different from the general social movement,#MeToo does not have any organization.Most of the victims of sexual assault or harassment spontaneously share their stories through social media,and then lead to viral transmission through emotional mobilization,exposing sexual harassment and the gender power behind it to the public.By studying the participation motivation,process and results of the participants in the campaign,we can better understand the significance behind the campaign,so as to help change the unequal gender power relationship and promote gender equality legislation.The introduction discusses the reason and significance of this research,expounds the research status at home and abroad related to the campaign,sexual harassment and empowerment,and puts forward the research methods and innovations of this paper.Furthermore,it introduces the research design of qualitative research in detail,first defines the research object and sampling process,then introduces the data collection process and interview outline,and finally introduces the coding process of data analysis stage in detail.The first chapter mainly analyzes the transformation of feminism movement from"equal struggle" to "discourse struggle".The first section reviews the three waves of feminism movement,and finds that the early feminism movement revolves around women's striving for equal social rights and changing the gender discrimination that women encounter.The second section discusses that#MeToo is a new form of feminism movement,which is a direct physical struggle to break the dominant position of male chauvinism in the structure of social power relations.Mainly from two aspects:the beginning of#MeToo in the United States and the entry of#MeToo into China.The second chapter describes the motivation of participating in#MeToo.First of all,from the perspective of procedural functional failure,this paper points out that#MeToo is a manifestation of women's right path change after encountering sexual harassment;secondly,it discusses that the important reason for the occurrence of the movement is the awakening of women's subject consciousness;finally,from the perspective of the"discourse-power" relationship,it is said that call-out is a means for women to fight in#MeToo of sexual harassment,only when sexual harassment enters the public discourse forum can stimulate the protest.The third chapter analyzes the process of participating in#MeToo.First of all,based on the "weak relationship attribute",this paper explores why the campaign makes the victims realize "interconnection" in a short period of time;secondly,based on the theory of "affective labor",it explores the mobilization form of the movement;finally,from the perspective of opinion leaders,it analyzes the booster role of star cases in the campaign.The fourth chapter analyzes the multiple meanings of#MeToo.First of all,from the perspective of self-empowerment,it is believed that#MeToo can eliminate the shame of victims of sexual harassment,help women out of spiritual difficulties,and ultimately achieve the control of their personal lives;secondly,from the perspective of media-empowerment,it expounds that the "technological community" constructed by new media enables women to have a certain degree of discourse power.Finally,from the perspective of social-empowerment,we believe that the movement has changed the public's views on sexual harassment,relevant laws and regulations are being improved,and a community of ideas is forming.The fifth chapter reflects on the limitations and shortcomings of#MeToo.First of all,it analyzes that the closed power system and imperfect prevention mechanism lead to women's limited rights from the movement;second,the "other" tendency,which naturally excludes male victims,is likely to cause gender antagonism.Moreover,the commercialization of social media is very easy to cause the "stigmatization" of feminism,so as to eliminate the legitimate demands of#MeToo;finally,this paper believes that the movement has developed into a cross class,cross region,cross occupation,cross race feminist movement in Europe and America,but there are still class,status and regional limitations in China.
