Implementation and verification of control algorithms are the fundamental functions of the experimental systems for control courses.With the development of network and communication technologies,the experimental systems based on local operations has been replaced by them with remote operations,to relax the location restrictions.However,given specific requirements by research and teaching,it is still the basic problem faced by the developers to improve the functions of the existing systems.In process control courses,the twin-tank system is widely used as the typical plant.With the twin-tank system as the plant,the thesis designed and developed an experimental system for control courses.The research is supported by the State Key Laboratory of Synthetical Automation for Process Industries.The development of the system employs control technologies together with the recently developed information technologies.Based on the basic function of implementation and verification of control algorithms,new functions including plant simulation,experiment process monitoring,control performance evaluation,case studies,and remote security are newly developed.The organization of the thesis is as follows:(1)Based on a survey on the development of remote experimental systems and the experimental systems based on the twin-tank system,the thesis analyzes the new requirement on the experimental system;(2)Focusing on the new functional requirements,the thesis designed the system structure and the main subsystems for a new Cloud-based remote experimental system for control courses,with the twin-tank system as the plant.The system uses PLC-based loop control system,and the data acquisition and security control strategies in emergency are designed.Functions of experimental data processing,remote security and user administration were designed,and the service-oriented packaging of algorithms and data are designed for implementation in Cloud-based servers.To fulfill the requirement of algorithm design and case studies,the function of plant simulation and a library of system identification and control algorithms are designed.(3)The experimental system is implemented based on the Siemens S7-300 PLC,MATLAB and the toolset of MyEclipse.Siemens industrial control software is employed for the development of the programs of data acquisition and security control.The control algorithms including system identification,controller design are developed by using the m-language of MATLAB.The algorithms for Cloud-based experiments,service-oriented packaging and the human-machine interface are developed by using MyEclipse.(4)The thesis also performs experimental verification of the developed system.Experiments including system identification and loop control are performed.The effectiveness of the design is verified based on the results of the experiments.
