Self-tuning control has the ability of on-line identification and on-line correction of controller parameters,which makes it suitable for solving industrial automation problems with changing operating conditions.The design and operation of self-tuning control are complex and existing self-tuning control teaching experimental platforms are scarce,so how to help students deepen the understanding of the use of self-tuning control in the industrial application is an important issue in the automation teaching.Based on the project of Liaoning Province Metallurgical Comprehensive Automation Engineering Laboratory,this paper designs and develops a self-tuning teaching experiment platform,which takes the air mixing process as the physical controlled object.With this teaching experiment platform,students can do experiments like identification,self-tuning controller design,self-tuning controller operation and other teaching experiments under an environment simulating industrial conditions.It has a positive impact on the automation teaching reform.This paper mainly completes the following work:(1)On the basis of the development of the existing automatic control experiment teaching platform and detailed overview of the current status of self-tuning control,a detailed requirement analysis of self-tuning teaching experiment platform is carried out to help teaching experiment.(2)A self-tuning control teaching experiment platform composed of air flow rate as the controlled object,instruments and implementing agencies,PLC control system,monitoring computer and model computer is designed and the modules which are related to teaching experiments are also devised.In this platform,model recursive identification,controller design,controller design,self-tuning control and other teaching experiments can be carried out.(3)Based on Rockwell's ControlLogix control system,the PLC program was developed by using RSLogix5000,and the monitoring interface was developed via FactoryTalk View SE.The function modules like recursive identification,controller design and self-tuning control are developed by Matlab GUI.The program devised by Matlab GUI use OPC method to communicate with the PLC.(4)A series of experiments are carried out on the developed air flow process self-tuning control teaching experiment platform.The experiment results show that the platform has the advantages of highly simulating industrial field environment,being easy to understand.It is also safe and reliable,convenient and flexible.It plays a catalytic role on perfecting the teaching performance of self-tuning control.
