With the progress of the times and the development of science and technology, mobile phones have become an indispensable daily tool. While recognizing the great convenience brought by mobile phones,we should also be aware that improper use of mobile phones may affect and even endanger people's life, especially for adolescents.Teenagers are more likely to become addicted to mobile phones due to long-term inappropriate and unreasonable use of mobile phones, which results in a sever negative impact on their cognition and behavior. In this study,a total of 794 junior high school students were investigated using Childhood Psychological Abuse and Neglect Scale,Core self-evaluation Scale,Mobile Phone Addiction Index Scale,Social Avoidance and Distress Scale to explore the effects of childhood psychological abuse and neglect on mobile phone addiction,as well as the chain mediating effect of core self-evaluation and social avoidance and distress(Study A).An intervention was carried out afterwards on the individuals with mobile phone addiction through group counseling in the hope of reducing the level of mobile phone addiction to a certain extent(Study B).The main findings are as follows:(1)Demographic analysis shows that there were no gender or grade differences in mobile phone addiction, but there were significant differences in monthly family income.(2)Mobile phone addiction was positively correlated with childhood psychological abuse and neglect and social avoidance and distress, while negatively correlated with core self-evaluation;core self-evaluation was negatively correlated with psychological abuse and neglect and social avoidance and distress;social avoidance and distress was positively correlated with childhood psychological abuse and neglect.(3)Childhood psychological abuse and neglect was positively correlated with mobile phone addiction in junior high school students.(4)Core self-evaluation partially mediated the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and mobile phone addiction in junior high school students.(5)Social avoidance and distress partially mediated the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and mobile phone addiction in junior high school students.(6)Core self-evaluation and social avoidance and distress not only could independently partially mediate the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and mobile phone addiction in junior high school students, but also form a chain mediating effect in the relationship.(7)Based on the results of Study A,Study B conducted an intervention via group counseling on core self-evaluation and social avoidance and distress of 6 participants with higher scores of mobile phone addiction. After intervention, the results indicate that the level of core self-evaluation of the group members was improved, while the level of social avoidance and distress was significantly decreased.Meanwhile, the level of mobile phone addiction was declined as well.
