| Culture is a concentrated embodiment of national values.The external communication and exchange of cultures in different countries and regions of the world promote the process of cultural globalization.In order to adapt to this trend,the “going out” strategy of culture puts the external communication of Chinese excellent culture on the level of national strategy,which aims to improve the soft power of national culture,and then enhance China’s voice in the world.The Songshan Shaolin culture is formed in the special region and historical environment of Songshan Shaolin Temple.After thousands of years of development,The Songshan Shaolin culture has extensively absorbed the cultural essence of various disciplines such as ancient Chinese philosophy,literature,aesthetics and medicine.Besides,it has widely absorbed different schools of Confucianism,Taoism,and Buddhism,forming a Shaolin culture system with Chinese characteristics.And it has become a symbol of Chinese culture,and plays an important role in the transmission of Chinese culture.Songshan Shaolin culture spread rapidly to the outside world through various ways,such as Shaolin cultural festival,Shaolin theater performance,etc.But as an important way of external communication,the international publicity translation has not received enough attention.As a bridge of cultural communication,international publicity translation is an important means to carry forward Chinese traditional culture.The quality of its translation has a direct impact on the effect of cultural external communication,so it is urgent to study and explore the translation methods suitable for the external communication of Songshan Shaolin culture and improve the quality of its translation.The ultimate goal of Songshan Shaolin culture’s international publicity translation research is to explore the methods of promoting the external communication of Shaolin culture,and to perfect the way for the external communication and development of Chinese culture.This paper collects and summarizes the international publicity texts of Songshan Shaolin culture through literature,case analysis and field investigation research methods.By analyzing the historical evolution of Shaolin Kungfu and the formation of Shaolin culture,this paper expounds the specific connotation and essential characteristics of Songshan Shaolin culture,and summarizes the main characteristics of Songshan Shaolin culture,such as Chan characteristics,diversification and complexity,nationalization and etc.In the existing translation of Shaolin culture’s international publicity translation,there are some problems,such as the disunity of terms translation,the random translation and mistranslation and the omission of cultural information.Based on the principle of “internal and external differences” and “embodying our initiative”,the author makes translation and analysis of typical cases of Shaolin culture’s international publicity texts in Songshan,and finally sums up five translation methods which are beneficial to the external communication of Shaolin culture: zero translation,literal translation,free translation,addition translation and subtraction translation.According to the different characteristics of Shaolin culture,this paper sums up specific translation methods such as transliteration,transliteration with annotation,literal translation with annotation,skill categories: action analysis,free translation with annotation,subtraction and etc.Finally,the author suggests that according to the specific characteristics of Songshan Shaolin culture’s international publicity texts,appropriate translation methods should be selected to ensure that the cultural information of the translated text is faithful to the original text,so as to achieve the ultimate goal of the international cultural communication of Shaolin culture’s international publicity translation. |
