Early College High School Initiative is an educational project by 7 foundations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2002,which is one of the ways of education articulation.to provide education support for the students who are underrepresented in high education,including low-income youth,first-generation college goers,English language learners,students of color,cooperates with institutions of higher education and communities.through rigor courses,personalized support and comprehensive guidance,students can improve their performance.The students can earn a high school diploma and an Associate's degree or up to two years of credit toward a Bachelor's degree with tuition free so that students can transition to college smoothly be prepared for future academics and career.At present,North Carolina is a leader of this initiative for its high development speed,scale,and outcomes.In order to answer three research questions: 1)Under what circumstances did the Early College High School Initiative arise and develop? 2)How is Early College High School Initiative implemented in North Carolina,and why can North Carolina be a leader of Early College High School Initiative? 3)What are the implications for China's educational articulation? Based on a large amount of literature and data,this dissertation explores the background of early college high school and the implementation,measures,outcomes and effectiveness of the North Carolina 's Early College High School Initiative and find that: Early College High School Initiative is a bold attempt under the guidance of developmental psychology based on the ideology of junior college sports and the6-4-4 academic system.;the reason why the North Carolina ‘s Early College High School Initiative promotes student academic,emotional,and social development,achieves educational convergence,and promotes educational equity can attribute to North Carolina 's comprehensive policies,strong support systems and timely remedial measures;from the successful experience of Early College High School Initiative in North Carolina China 's education articulation needs to increase the awareness of articulation,deepen cooperation activities,pay attention to more students,encourage the participation of diverse institutions,build a comprehensive education environment,and build relevant laws and regulations.
