The application of mathematics is important to promote scientific innovation in the development of society, while operation is a major means of using mathematics.Operation,as a basic mathematical ability, has always attracted much attention in China's basic education. With the national effort to put forward the requirement to cultivate the core literacy of Chinese students, training students' competency in mathematical operation has also been included in national curriculum standards.Students should develop the competency to use algorithm to solve math problems. As an integral part of academic performance, mathematical computing ability is related to the study of other subjects. What's more, students may also benefit from high mathematical operation ability in future professional performance. However, students' performance in mathematical operations is not satisfactory.Teachers report various problems in calculation process of high school students.Researchers have found that some students have weak computing skills.Poor operation ability influence some students' attitude towards mathematics. They become reluctant to continue learning mathematics. Therefore, investigating high school students' academic literacy in math operation and analyzing the main influencing factors are of great significance.Teachers may benefit from such a research to adjust their instruction to help students improve their computing literacy. To this end,we designed corresponding research tools to test and survey nearly 900 students from two high schools of different teaching levels in Z City,Hebei Province,so as to enquire the current status of student math operation literacy.Through SPSS software and Excel software, environmental factors, teaching factors, and student factors that may affect students' computing literacy were analyzed and processed. The survey data shows that the mathematics literacy of key middle school students performs better than that of ordinary middle schools, and the mathematics literacy level of students gradually improves from the lower grades to the upper grades, which are in accordance with the general law.The distribution of mathematics literacy levels of students in different grades reflects different problems, and teachers in all grades need to deal with them in a targeted manner.Through data analysis for students in the same grade at the same school,it is found that, student gender, parental education and expectations do not significantly affect mathematical literacy. And the environmental factor of whether living in the school have no significant effect on students' computing literacy. The main reasons that led to differences in computing literacy among students are computing habits, class experience, emotional attitudes, and learning strategies.Based on the findings,we interviewed some high school math teachers for their viewpoints to explore for teaching strategies. To help students develop their competency in mathematical operation,we suggest that high school math teachers should:(1)provide hierarchical guidance in the teaching of mathematical operations to improve students' teaching feedback;(2)strengthen the blackboard writing demonstration and guide students to develop a computing habit that focuses on reflection;(3)guide students to use learning strategies while infiltrating mathematical thought methods;(4)pay attention to students 'non-intellectual factors, and conduct appropriate psychological counseling on students' computing processes. With these strategies,we hope that mathematical literacy of different students can be improved.
