The reform of educational materials is key to curriculum innovation.The reform of education goals and the education system can only be achieved ultimately through the reform of curriculum and educational materials.The reform of educational materials decides the success or failure of the education reform at a deeper level.The broad definition of educational materials covers various educational materials used by teachers and students in teaching activities,such as textbooks,workbooks,and laboratory reports,and the narrow definition of educational materials refers to the textbooks,which are teaching books prepared according to the curriculum standards or curriculum guide outlines and systematically reflect the contents of the disciplines.The“educational materials” covered in this research refer to the textbooks.This research is carried out against the backdrop of the basic education curriculum reform since China's reform and opening up.From the 2000 s,the pace of China's textbook reform also picked up its speed,which witnessed some deviations in the value orientation,especially in political ideology,national culture and traditional revolutionary culture,and socialist core values and led to serious problems including desinicization,over-Westernization and value hollowing in school education.Since the 18 th CPC National Congress,China has attached great importance to the reform of textbooks and raised the issue of textbooks to the level of state powers by clearly stating that textbooks for primary and secondary schools must reflect the will of the CPC and the state,adhere to the guidelines of Marxist theories,and fully reflect the basic education requirements of the CPC and the state,the socialist core values,and the accumulation and innovation of the cultural knowledge of all mankind.The current direction of the reform of primary and secondary school textbooks is to further strengthen the education functions of the curriculums,lay a solid ground color of Chinese culture for students with genes of Chinese red culture,and solve the problems of “who we will cultivate” and “how to cultivate them”.How can we provide teachers and students with high-quality textbooks? The Ministry of Education of China clearly pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the whole process management,raise the threshold for textbook compilation,and strengthen the audit and control.Therefore,scientific and standardized textbook evaluation is an important means to ensure the quality of textbooks.Textbook evaluation has three important functions for textbooks: textbook review,textbook compilation and revision,and textbook selection.Among the three types of evaluations,the appropriateness evaluation of textbooks is an indispensable one in all evaluations of textbooks.This research is an empirical research conducted by the author on such topics as the compilation of the exploratory textbook,textbook evaluation,textbook relevance of the Qingdao version of the “Information Technology” for junior high schools.This six-chapter thesis covers the forewords,definition of related concepts and theoretical basis,the compilation concepts and the construction of the appropriateness evaluation index system of the Qingdao version“Information Technology ” textbook for junior high schools,the empirical research on the appropriateness evaluation on the Qingdao version “Information Technology” textbook for junior high schools,appropriate adaptation suggestions for improving the Qingdao version“Information Technology” textbook for junior high schools,and the summary and prospects.This thesis conducts in-depth exploration into the textbooks relevance(the relevance of the basis for textbooks compilation,content selection,organization and layout,content presentation,printing technology with the school conditions,teachers' qualities and The appropriateness of teaching skills,students' cognitive foundation and study habits)through the literature researches,questionnaire surveys,in-depth interviews,and comparative experiments.Through explorations,the author gradually comes to understand the basic connotations of the appropriateness evaluation of textbooks: from the perspective of the application scope,the appropriateness evaluation of textbooks should run through the whole process from the compilation of the textbooks to the teaching and use process and the authors,reviewers,selectors,users and the test designers for the student's academic proficiency need to pay close attention to the relevance of the textbooks.From the perspective of evaluation objectives,the focus of evaluation should be the relevance between the textbooks and the teaching of teachers,and the learning needs of students.From the perspective of evaluation methods,the appropriateness evaluation of textbooks should be a combination of quantitative research and qualitative research,focusing on the value of users' practical experience through the teaching and learning process.From the perspective of evaluation forms,the appropriateness evaluation of textbooks not only needs to make factual judgments and value judgments,but also proposes suggestions and directions for the amendments or revision of textbooks,for which it is also known as a developmental evaluation method.This research creates the appropriateness evaluation system for the Qingdao version of the“Information Technology” for junior high schools according to the Administrative Measures for Primary and Secondary School Textbooks and the General High Schools Information Technology Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)promulgated by the Ministry of Education of China,the evaluation on the textbook by domestic and foreign experts and scholars,especially on the basis of the results of the appropriateness evaluation of the textbook,and obtains first-hand information on the teaching relevance of the Qingdao version of the “Information Technology”for junior high schools from multiple angles and layers through interviews with teaching and research experts and key teachers,as well as the online questionnaire surveys on more than 400 teachers and nearly 2,800 students from more than 50 schools in the seven cities using such a textbook and through the analysis of survey data and in-depth interviews.Based on the results of the interviews,suggestions are put forward for amendments or revision of the Qingdao version of the “Information Technology” for junior high schools.The innovation of this research lies in its filling in the gaps in the research on the appropriateness evaluation of the “Information Technology” course textbooks for primary and secondary schools in China and developing a set of strategies and standards for the appropriateness evaluation of the “Information Technology” textbooks in junior high schools through empirical research,which can provide theoretical and practical case support for the scientific and sustainable development of the “Information Technology” curriculum in primary and secondary schools and promote the information technology literacy among primary and secondary school students.
