The HPS education model is a new teaching model that integrates the history of science(H),the philosophy of science(P),and the sociology of science(S)into science education.HPS education not only shows the dynamic development process of knowledge but also contains the scientific inquiry process of scientists discovering, analyzing, and solving problems. It can enable students to recognize the development law of things in experiencing knowledge development and form scientific materialism and worldview. It understands the close relationship between science, people, and society in solving practical social problems. Therefore, the study combines the HPS teaching model to cultivate students'chemistry problem-solving ability as a research topic, intending to cultivate students' awareness of problems discovered,problem-solving methods,problem-solving reflection, and migration abilities through HPS education to promote students'Problem-solving skills. This research contains the following parts:The first part was theoretical research.Through the literature research method, the research background was clarified according to the current education reform requirements and the learning needs of students.By combing and analyzing the connotation of the HPS teaching model and the current research situation,a review of HPS' teaching model research was written. The purpose and significance of the research were clarified.Furthermore,it defined the relevant concepts in this topic, confirming the theoretical basis and paving the way for the development of this research. The second part was practical research. The relevant content of HPS' education in the Luke version of the high school chemistry textbook was sorted and analyzed. The second unit of Compulsory 1 was determined as the content of teaching practice.Through teacher-student interviews and student questionnaire surveys,to understand the current situation of HPS education application for high school chemistry teaching and the status of students' problem-solving abilities, and learned about students'problem awareness,problem-solving attitudes, methods, reflections, and migration applications were insufficient when learning chemistry.According to the existing problems and combined with the characteristics of the HPS teaching model, teaching principles and teaching strategies were put forward, and a teaching program based on the HPS teaching model to cultivate students' problem-solving ability is constructed. The experimental class was taught in HPS teaching mode, and the control class was taught in traditional teaching practice.Three cases of An Important Mixture-Colloid,Electrolyte,and Ionization, and Redox Reactions were used to analyze the experimental process. Finally, combined with the analysis of student problem-solving ability questionnaire survey, study to plan, and monthly test scores, the teaching effect was tested. The third part is to conclude.(1)Through the analysis of textbooks,it is concluded that the content of HP's education in the Luke version of high school chemistry textbooks is less, and teachers need to fully excavate effective HPS materials to supplement teaching when designing teaching.(2)It is concluded from teacher-student interviews that the HPS teaching model is beneficial to stimulate students' interest in learning.Through the questionnaire survey,it is concluded that the HPS teaching model has a positive effect on cultivating students' problem-solving awareness,problem-solving methods,problem-solving reflection, and transferability, and is beneficial to promote students'problem-solving ability.(4)By analyzing students' monthly test scores,it is concluded that the HPS teaching model can improve students' chemistry scores.
