Our research is based on the new requirements of the new curriculum standard in 2011 and the current situation of the arithmetic ability of primary school students in China.The investigation of the current situation of the fifth grade students' mathematical computation ability is helpful to improve the efficiency of teachers' mathematical calculation teaching and students' mathematical computation ability.In this paper,we compiled "the pre-test for grade five students computation ability","the final test for computation ability of the grade five students.(book 1)","the final test for computation ability of grade five student(book 2)",choose 82 fifth grade students in some primary school in Chongqing as test object and took one year experiment to understand their computation ability in different periods and dimensions.In our study,we collected data by pre and post-test,and use SPSS to do independent sample T test,Pearson correlation analysis and small sample SW test,and then we carried out the efficient strategy for fastening the students' computation ability.In our paper,we obtained the following results.(1)There is no significant difference between genders.(2)Grade five students have a good understanding in solving equations;while the mixed decimal computation needs to be strengthen.Moreover,estimation which is different from accurate computation is inadequate for students,and it need to be improved in both teaching and studying.(3)Mathematical computation ability is closely related to manual calculation,written calculation,simple calculation,solving equations,estimation and problem solving,and should be comprehensively analyzed from all dimensions.(4)The group cooperative learning method carried out in the first volume of Grade 5 did not significantly improve students' computation ability.Combined with the test results,the teaching strategies for cultivating and improving students' mathematical operation ability are obtained:(1)Teachers should focus on cultivating students' computation ability based on core literacy;(2)Teachers should reasonably permeate and transform their thoughts in the teaching of the four arithmetic principles;(3)Teachers should cultivate students' computation strategies in problem-solving teaching;(4)Teachers should cultivate students' computation interest in different activities.
