A Study On Living Conditions Of Rural Solidary Empty-Nest Elders

The implementation of the family planning policy has led to the emergence of a large number of "4+2+1" family patterns in China,which has changed the original population structure in rural areas.The new population has been greatly reduced and the elderly population has continued to increase.With the acceleration of urbanization,more and more young people in rural areas choose to work in cities and settle down.The elderly account for an increasing proportion of the rural population,and the aging trend of the rural population is becoming more and more obvious,resulting in the emergence of a large number of elderly groups.The elderly living alone in empty nests studied in this paper not only have their children leave home,but also have lost their spouse.They are a more vulnerable group than ordinary elderly people and need more attention from the society.Domestic and foreign academic circles have published a lot of research work on the elderly living alone in empty nest.However,these works focus on the urban elderly living alone in empty nests,the use of intelligent technology to prevent the risks that may be encountered by the elderly living alone in empty nests,attention to the spiritual comfort and mental health of the elderly,and so on.There are still few studies on the overall living conditions of the elderly.This study focuses on the overall living conditions of the rural empty-nest elderly living alone,aiming to find out the living conditions of these elderly and put forward suggestions to improve their lives on this basis.By taking the opportunity of internship,the author chooses the rural elderly who live alone in empty nests as the research object.By combining interview and observation,the author investigates and studies their basic living conditions,social support,physical and mental health,spiritual and cultural entertainment and other aspects.This study found that,in terms of basic life,rural elderly living alone in empty nest can be satisfied with basic life,but they still have difficulties in eating and traveling.In the aspect of social support,the elderly can get all aspects of support are relatively limited,especially the support from the public and the emotional support of children is weaker;In terms of physical and mental health,the elderly generally have the basic ability to take care of themselves,but most of them have a variety of physical problems,the elderly's mental health has not been paid attention to;In the aspect of spiritual and cultural entertainment,entertainment facilities are simple,and the content and form of the activities of the elderly are single.In order to improve the living conditions of the rural elderly living alone in empty nests,the following suggestions are put forward in this study.First,the government should increase financial and policy support.Second,the community level should help expand the support system for the elderly living alone in empty nests,develop new pension methods such as community pension,and pay attention to cultural pension.Thirdly,the family level should increase the frequency of providing support and care,and strengthen the family endowment.Fourthly,at the social level,it is advisable to promote the diversification of social support subjects and appeal to more people to pay attention to the life problems of rural empty-nest elderly living alone.
