The General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition)promulgated takes the embodiment of the cultural value of mathematics as one of the basic concepts of the curriculum.Which clearly points out that high school mathematics teaching should continuously guide students to perceive the scientific value, application value, cultural value and aesthetic value of mathematics. Two versions of senior high school mathematics textbooks published by People's Education Press(PEP)and Beijing Normal University Press(BNUP)are taken as the objects of this paper,Methods of literature research, content analysis and comparative study are adopted to analyze the situation of the integration of mathematics culture into high school mathematics textbooks. The specific research questions are:(1)What are the commonalities and characteristics of the presentation of mathematical culture among two versions of textbooks?(2)What are the commonalities and characteristics of the application level of mathematical culture among two versions of textbooks?(3)What enlightenment does the mathematical culture among two versions of textbooks have on the compilation of Chinese high school mathematics textbooks?Focusing on the research questions, the two versions of textbooks are quantitatively studied and qualitatively analyzed around the content distribution, column distribution, and application level of mathematical culture,it is found that the two editions of the textbooks have implemented the concept of Curriculum Standards for the compilation of mathematical culture, and actively responded to the requirements of the Curriculum Standards.Mainly manifested as:In terms of content distribution, the two editions of textbooks both contain rich mathematical culture and the total amount of which is equivalent.Items of mathematics in life are appeared most frequently, while items of history of mathematics, mathematics in science and technology, mathematics in arts and humanities are less adopted. The PEP is richer in mathematics in life and mathematics in science and technology. But most of them are used from the old version, and some mathematical culture is recurring. The BNUE is richer in the history of mathematics, and mathematics in humanities and arts, and the updating degree of cultural materials of mathematics is higher than that of the old version. In terms of column distribution, the two editions of the textbooks have integrated mathematical culture in each column.Among them,Items of mathematical culture in the exercises of textbook is the most while in the example of textbooks is the second, which in side and quotation of textbooks is relatively small. There are more mathematical culture in the quotation of BNUP than the PEP,and the distribution of columns in BNUP is relatively more balanced. In terms of application level, the two editions of textbooks have adopted variety application methods, but the overall application level needs to be improved. The methods of using history of mathematics mostly are complementation, the decoration and the adaptation are used less, and the reconstruction is not used. The main method of using other three types of mathematical culture is separability, the inseparability method is second, while the external type is less adopted, the usage rate of duplication and the inseparability method in BNUP are higher than those of the PEP,and the overall application level of mathematical culture in BNUP is relatively higher.Based on the conclusions, the following suggestions are given:(1)Reasonably distribute the types of mathematics culture in textbooks on the ba sis of substantial content;(2)Improve the application level of mathematics culture on the basis of reasonable application methods.
