The study of school space has received increasing attention from scholars in the field of pedagogy.School space is a multidisciplinary intersectional research field including pedagogy,architecture,sociology,etc.This study explores the issue of school space construction from the perspective of promoting teachers' professional development,and indicates the future direction of school space construction in primary and secondary schools.This study first analyzes the intrinsic mechanisms of school space construction affecting teachers' professional development;then,using questionnaires,interview surveys,and case studies,it investigates the current situation of supporting teachers' professional development through space construction in three primary and secondary schools and produces results that verify the effectiveness of promoting teachers' professional development through school space construction;finally,it gives countermeasures and suggestions for future school space construction.Specifically,the paper draws the following main conclusions.First,school space is composed of three major spaces: physical space,psychological space,and cyberspace.Second,school spaces have major problems such as blindness,closedness,functional homogenization,lack of spiritual connotation and neglect of social interaction of space subjects.Third,the promotion effect of school space construction on teachers' professional development is manifested in: updating teaching philosophy and teaching methods,enhancing teachers' curriculum development and construction ability,improving teachers' IT literacy,satisfying teachers' sense of emotional belonging,and improving teachers' interpersonal relationships.This study proposes the following countermeasures and recommendations: the future construction of school spaces in primary and secondary schools should focus on the openness,flexibility,intelligence,humanization,and safety of school spaces.
