With the development of society,the Chinese education system has been going through constant reforming.At the same time,science and technology are also developing rapidly.As a result,the Internet and technology are widely applied to the education industry,which brings a certain degree of challenge to high school teachers.Due to the Gaokao system,senior high school teachers are always considered to be the most stressful occupation among different kinds of teachers.Based on the literature review,this study used a combination of questionnaires,interviews,and case studies as key methods to investigate the occupational stress of high school teachers who are working in a senior high school of Jiangsu province.The research questions are: 1)To which degree of occupational stress that high school teachers are facing;2)What factors are related to these occupational stress(such as gender,age,grade,etc.);3)What are the impacts of the occupational stress;4)What are the possible coping strategies.A total of 279 questionnaires were distributed to the teachers.246 questionnaires were identified as valid.15 subjects were interviewed.One of the teachers was studied as a special case.The results of the research are as follows: 1)The overall occupational stress is relatively high;2)The primary pressure is the income,followed by examination results and student management;3)Female teachers are under more significant pressure;4)Young and middle-aged teachers are going through relatively higher pressure;5)Those who are teaching Gaokao-related subjects are under greater pressure;6)The pressure is more obvious among the teachers who are teaching the final grade;7)Grade leaders,class leaders,and research leaders have higher pressure;8)Married teachers are more stressed than single teachers.Based on the results of the survey,this study analysed the sources of teachers' occupational stress from four aspects: society,school,family and teachers themselves,and finally put forward the copying strategies for teachers to relieve the occupational stress.
