Study On Occupational Stress And Job Burnout Of Senior High School Mathematics Teachers In Chengdu City

With the implementation of major new policies and measures in the field of education,such as the reform of the secondary and high school entrance examination system,"double reduction" and"double new",the state is paying more and more attention to basic education.However,many teachers have reported that they feel more and more stress and burnout in their careers.In particular,high school mathematics teachers generally suffer from different levels of emotional exhaustion,dehumanization,and low achievement.This paper studies the current situation of job burnout among high school mathematics teachers in Chengdu,Sichuan Province,using literature analysis and data analysis methods,combined with an online questionnaire survey of more than 600 high school mathematics teachers,and focuses on the influence of the occupational stress and its coping styles.The relationship between occupational stress and job burnout,the influence of stress coping styles on job burnout,and the influence of occupational stress and stress coping styles interacting on job burnout are further analyzed using SPSS 19.0 and EXCEL software on the survey data.The following conclusions are drawn.1.Mathematics teachers of all teaching age groups in Chengdu general high schools scored above 3 on each stress dimension except for professional development stress,which scored between 2.58 and 2.86(slightly below the median).And the top three stresses were:workload stress,student problem behavior stress,and school social evaluation stress,indicating that high school mathematics teachers in Chengdu have high occupational stress.2.General high school mathematics teachers in Chengdu scored 4.87 on low achievement well above the median.They all scored 3.84 on emotional exhaustion,slightly above the median.And they scored below 3 on dehumanization.Overall,high school mathematics teachers' burnout was mainly manifested in high emotional exhaustion and low achievement.3.Occupational stress was significantly and positively related to job burnout,and coping styles of occupational stress significantly predicted job burnout:positive coping styles reduced job burnout and negative coping styles increased job burnout.The study also found that"workload stress and rationalization","professional development stress and problem solving","professional development stress and self-blame","professional development stress and rationalization," "student problem behavior and problem solving," and "student problem behavior and fantasy" had significant effects on job burnout in six interaction influencing ways.Based on the findings,this paper also explores management countermeasures to overcome or alleviate job burnout among high school mathematics teachers.
