The Relationship Between Partner Phubbing And Marital Relationship Satisfaction:The Role Of Marital Conflict And Self-esteem

With the rapid development of information technology,people are becoming more and more dependent on mobile phones.Mobile phones not only bring convenience to people,but also bring challenges to people's close communication.Especially in the daily interactions of married couples,the behavior of the partner lowering his or her head to play with the mobile phone will reduce the quality of the couple's interactions,thus reducing the satisfaction of the marriage relationship.Previous studies have shown that partner phubbing can significantly negatively predict marital relationship satisfaction,but whether there are other intermediate variables involved in the relationship remains to be further explored.Based on the symbolic interactionism theory,this study constructs a regulated mediating effect model to test the mediating role of marital conflict and the moderating effect of self-esteem in the process of the influence of partner phubbing on marital relationship satisfaction.In this study,470 married Chinese individuals were surveyed by means of the Phubbing,the Marital conflict scale in the JWEB,the Self-esteem scale and the ENRICH:1.There are significant gender differences in partner phubbing and marital relationship satisfaction.Female partner phubbing is significantly higher than male partner,and male partner relationship satisfaction is significantly higher than female.The marital status has a significant influence on the self-esteem and marital relationship satisfaction.The scores of self-esteem and marital status relationship satisfaction of the married group with the marital status of seven years or less are significantly higher than those of the married group with the marital status of more than seven years.2.Partner phubbing is significantly and negatively related to marital relationship satisfaction,and significantly positively correlated with marital conflict.There is a significant negative correlation between marital conflict to marital relationship satisfaction.Self-esteem is significantly positively correlated with marital relationship satisfaction.3.Marital conflict plays a mediating role in the relationship between artner phubbing and marital relationship satisfaction.Partner phubbing can negatively predict marital relationship satisfaction and indirectly affect marital relationship satisfaction through marital conflict.4.Self-esteem significantly regulates the moderating process of the influence of partner phubbing on marital relationship satisfaction through marital conflict.When self-esteem is low,marital conflict can significantly negatively predict marital relationship satisfaction.When self-esteem is high,its predictive effect is enhanced.
