With the development of economy, the phenomenon of stratum solidification caused by the uneven distribution of social capital and the expansion of income gap is becoming more and more serious. The individual social development is not only determined by the value of talent and efforts, but also restricted by the family background and social environment. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to analyze the current situation of the inequality of family capital from the socioeconomic status of the parents and to study the influence mechanism of intergenerational transmission on the income of the children. This article uses the 2016 CFPS household survey data and the local economic data in the China Statistical Yearbook to conduct an empirical study on the influencing factors of the income of the offspring and the mechanism of intergenerational transmission.First of all,the descriptive statistical analysis method is used to initially explore the distribution, correlation, regional differences, and urban-rural gap of related variables such as children's income, parents' socioeconomic status, and children's education.Secondly, the influence of the socioeconomic status of the parents on the income of the children under the moderation of the per capita GDP is studied by establishing a multilevel linear model.Thirdly,on the basis of considering the local economic factors, this paper uses the mediation model to explore the mediation effect of children's education on the relationship between parental socioeconomic status and children's income, and uses the moderated mediation model to further study the moderation effects of household registration and age on the above relationship. It is found that the higher the comprehensive score of the socioeconomic status of the parents is,the higher the income of the offspring is,which verifies the existence of the intergenerational transmission effect, and the effect is positively moderated by the per capita GDP,and the effect of the socioeconomic status of the parents in the economically developed regions on the income of the offspring is more obvious. The results of the moderated mediation model show that the intergenerational transmission of parents' socioeconomic status to their children's income is conducted through the children's education, and with the increase of age,the indirect effect of parents' socioeconomic status on their children's income through children's education increases significantly;the mediation effect of education level is more obvious for the children with non-agricultural household registration than for the children with agricultural household registration. Finally, according to the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions from the perspectives of education and employment,in order to alleviate the intergenerational transmission of poverty and promote the harmonious development of society.
