The application of historical map in middle school history textbooks can be traced back to the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.The historical map included in history textbooks not only reflects the changes of social thought at that time,but also lays the rudiments of historical map in today's history textbooks.Starting from the map of the late Qing Dynasty,this paper probes into the historical maps included in the history textbooks of middle schools in the period of the Republic of China,summarizes their development characteristics,and based on this,advances the corresponding understanding,with a view to the benefit of contemporary history education.The late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China are in the transition period of Chinese modern history education,and they are representative in the development of history education.This paper introduces the compilation of history textbooks in the late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China,discusses the General Situation of the development of history textbooks,and points out that the late Qing Dynasty is the stage in which middle school history textbooks learn from Western countries and Japan.There is almost no history map in the history textbooks in this period,until the later period,the teaching thought of "the combination of history and history" gradually appeared and was put into practice.With the rise of "new historiography" in the early years of the Republic of China,the historical map in history textbooks becomes more and more important.In the period of the National Government of the Republic of China,the promulgation of the syllabus made the scientific characteristics of the historical map more obvious,while the explosion of the Second Sino-Japanese War made the political ideology of the historical map reflected.In addition,on the basis of summing up the teaching value of historical map in the history textbooks of middle schools in the period of the Republic of China,this paper puts forward the contemporary thinking,in the conclusion part,the author restates the characteristics of historical map changes in history textbooks of the Republic of China and its promotion to contemporary teaching.Combining with the history textbooks of middle schools in the Republic of China,this paper analyzes the background,selection principles,use and features of the Times of historical maps in different periods,this paper aims to explain the evolution process,overall style and features of historical map in history textbooks of middle school in this period,and to provide some references for the development of Contemporary History Education.
