With the development of core literacy for Chinese students and the promulgation of new geography curriculum standards,geography education has paid more attention to the purpose of educating people,aiming to cultivate students' core literacy in disciplines.But the geography classes without critical thinking can not cultivate the profoundness of students' thinking,and it is difficult to meet the requirements of cultivating the core literacy of the discipline.This study tries to apply the issue-based approach in the teaching of geography in senior high school,so that students can go through the process of viewpoint selection and basis seeking,which not only guarantees the depth of knowledge grasp,but also allows students to internalize values in speculation,so as to achieve the goal of cultivating core literacy of the subject.Under the guidance of the new curriculum concept,first of all,through literature reading,the author summarizes the relevant researches on issued-based teaching,understands the current research progress,and sorts out related concepts and implementation steps of issue-based teaching;secondly,through questionnaire surveys of Senior Two students and interview surveys of high school geography teachers,the author understands the problems in applying issue-based teaching to high school geography teaching.Then,on the basis of the above researches,combined with relevant teaching theories,the thesis constructs the basic principles and teaching strategies of issue-based teaching applied to geography teaching in high school.The basic principles are as follows:the scientific principle based on geography knowledge,the practical principle oriented to real problem solving,the open principle based on student communication and inquiry,the subjective principle centered on the process of knowledge construction,and the developmental principle for improving the abblity of critical thinking and innovation.Teaching strategies include four levels: first,improving professional quality to implemente curriculum concepts;second,rationally designing issues to achieve teaching goals;third,focusing on teaching activities to ensure implementation effects;fourth,innovating evaluation methods to promote the development of teachers and students.Finally,combining the basic principles and teaching strategies constructed,the thesis takes “Red Flag River” project and “reclamation of land and sea” as examples to carry out teaching design for “local issues” and “global issues”,which shows the specific implementation process of issue-based teaching approach,hoping to provide some reference for educators.
