Information technology is a development trend in today’s society. The development of Information technology has brought huge impact and challenges for education career. The emergence of new media not only has changed traditional teaching model and method, but also has changed the ways and means for students to gain knowledge. Therefore, to meet the development of the times, timely educate students in information technology, foster students’ ability to obtain and process information, is the only way to improve the quality of students.GIS(Geographic Information System) is an important part of the development of current information age. It plays a huge role in spatial data analysis, management, application, and it is a important feature and symbol of model geography development. Introducing GIS to high school geography teaching, it will help students to open their eyes, develop their scientific literacy and information literacy, form a correct concept of geography science, grasp the development trends of geography, and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning and hobby.The content of this article are the following:Chapter First:Introduction. This part introduces research base, purpose, meaning, value, method and content of this article.Chapter Second: Firstly, this section defines the concept and connotation of GIS. Secondly, analyzes the role of GIS for high school geography education.Chapter Three:This section firstly attempts to put forward a teaching model for guiding GIS application.Chapter Four:Through Using data analysis methods, we analyze GIS application from students’ gender; grade; teachers; GIS cognition in No.1 High School in XinYuan County.Chapter Five: According to the investigation results, I found the issues of GIS application in the First High School in XinYuan County. For the existing problems, the author tries to point four aspects of suggestions.Conclusion and Forwards:This part reviews and summaries the entire of research, results, and raises prospects for the application of GIS in the High School Geographical Teaching.
