| Private middle school teachers play the roles of subject teachers,headmaster,and director of academic affairs office in the work and the roles of parents,children,and partners in the family.The pressures in these two fields collide with each other.When teachers cannot clearly position the two roles,the stress will evolve into conflicts between roles and work-family conflicts arise.The private education in China has greatly developed in recent years,and it is also playing a positive role in China’s education.However,the attention paid to private middle school teachers,who are an emerging force in the Chinese teacher team,is currently not that much.Longer working hours and greater work pressure in private middle schools have led to greater work-family conflicts for teachers in private middle schools,which will not only affect individual work and life,but also the quality of the entire basic education.Therefore,it is of great significance to properly deal with the teacher’s workfamily conflict.After surveying 310 teachers in 4 private middle schools in Chengdu and Chongqing,we came to the following conclusions:1.The teachers surveyed have relatively high levels of work-family conflict.2.The work-family conflicts of teachers in the four private middle schools in Chengdu and Chongqing have obvious differences in gender,job title,age,and the number of the elderly that are taken care of.3.Family support and social support play a positive role in the work-family conflict of private middle school teachers.Finally,the author learned from the work-family balance strategies and combined with the actual situation of four private middle school teachers in Chengdu and Chongqing,I propose the following suggestions from different levels to balance workfamily relations:1.Relevant policies should be introduced to improve the teacher protection system and the "right to punishment" should be returned to teachers.Besides,teachers’ treatment should be effectively improved to enhance teacher’s happiness.2.The management should formulate management policies according to the specific conditions of the school and strive to create a united,harmonious and relaxed working atmosphere,and jointly set up correct educational goals and values.3.As for the family,Spouses and family members should offer necessary help and support as much as possible by making full use of family resources.4.At the individual level,private middle school teachers can redefine their own roles to reduce work-family interaction. |
