With the rapid development of information technology, the requirements for people's comprehensive quality are also changing.Whether they have good computational thinking, programming thinking and other abilities is becoming one of the key indicators to measure the quality of talents.Previous studies have proved that as a new teaching mode,design-based learning can promote the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills such as creativity and problem-solving ability. Some scholars begin to pay attention to the effect of design learning on the cultivation of students' computational thinking. However, the existing evaluation of computational thinking is more limited to scales or tests, and there is a lack of in-depth research on the process of the formation of students' computational thinking.Based on this, the research uses quasi-experiment and classroom observation and other research methods, with the students' behavior data in the learning process as the core to explore the effect of design-based learning on the cultivation of college students' computational thinking in the robot education course. In this study, undergraduate students of Grade 2018 of Z University in Zhejiang Province were selected as subjects, including 26 in the experimental group and 27 in the control group. The experimental group adopted the teaching mode of design learning to carry out teaching, while the control group adopted traditional cooperative learning to carry out teaching. The main work is reflected in the following aspects: First, sort out the relevant theoretical basis.Clarify the concepts of robotics education,design-based learning and computational thinking, sort out the development status and relationship of the three, and analyze the feasibility of applying design-based learning to cultivate college students' computational thinking in robotics education.By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the existing teaching model, the teaching model of design-based learning is reconstructed.Second, reestablish the evaluation system of computational thinking.According to the actual teaching situation, the author retranslated Korkmaz evaluation Computational Thinking Scale.Based on the five ability dimensions of computational thinking, the framework of computational thinking ability is constructed, the specific meaning of each ability element of computational thinking is expounded, and the scoring index of computational thinking ability is designed.Third, centering on the question whether design-based learning can improve the computational thinking ability of college students, the experimental study of the experimental group and the control group was conducted for one semester in the course "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics".The experimental results are as follows:1.By analyzing the data of the computational thinking scale,it is found that the improvement effect of computational thinking ability in the experimental group is significantly better than that in the control group; It is mainly reflected in creativity, algorithmic thinking, critical thinking and problem solving skills.2.Analyzed the classroom observation data,it was found that the improvement effect of the experimental group's computational thinking ability was significantly better than that of the control group; It is mainly reflected in creativity, algorithmic thinking, critical thinking and problem solving skills.3.In design-based learning, the improvement of computational thinking ability of the group adopting the cooperation mode of "group division of labor and cooperation, and collective completion of comprehensive tasks" was significantly better than the other two cooperation modes.4.Through correlation analysis,it was found that the scale data were significantly positively correlated with the classroom observation data; There is a significant positive correlation between design-based learning and computational thinking ability.Based on the experimental results, the following conclusions are drawn: 1.In robotics education,design-based learning can improve students' computational thinking ability;2.In robotics education,design-based learning can significantly improve students' creativity, algorithmic thinking, critical thinking and problem solving skills;3.In design-based learning, the cooperation mode of "group division of labor and cooperation, collective completion of comprehensive tasks" is more conducive to the cultivation of students' computational thinking ability.
