Engineering thinking is a kind of planning entity thinking, which exists in engineering activities and engineering processes. Its purpose is to guide the executors to use all varieties of knowledge, choose the best scheme, and finally solve the practical problems in life after repeated optimization. In recent years, due to the vigorous promotion of engineering teaching in the field of science education at home and abroad, engineering thinking has gradually attracted people's attention as researchers pay more attention to engineering training.Engineering thinking research has shifted from the initial theoretical research to the current training practice research. Many researchers have discussed the formation of engineering thinking in higher education to a certain extent. However, the research on the formation of students' engineering thinking in the stage of basic education is still very weak. This research is based on the primary school science program in the stage of basic education, combining the China's Compulsory Elementary Science Curriculum Standards(2017)integrating the engineering and primary school science program. On this thinking, this research constructs the cultivating mode of sixth-grade students, according to the elements of engineering thought and combining the constructive theory, engineering design process and 6E teaching mode. The training mode is divided into four stages: project decision-making,technical design, project implementation and technical evaluation, and each stage corresponds to different student activities and teaching activities. On this basis, combining with the engineering thinking training mode of the sixth grade students, the teaching activities are designed, and an empirical study is made on the theme of the first volume tower construction of the sixth grade primary school published by Educational Science Publishing House. In the process of implementation,we designed a test group and a demonstration group. After the implementation of teaching,we use the designed evaluation tools to evaluate the engineering thinking changes of the experimental group and the sample group from two aspects of quantitative evaluation and qualitative evaluation,so as to revise the engineering training mode of the sixth grade students.According to the above empirical researches and analysis, the main conclusions include the following three points:(1)The training mode of engineering thinking of sixth grade students constructs in this study promotes the improvement of engineering thinking of sixth grade students;(2)On the basis of the engineering education model of sixth grade students, the integration of engineering science teaching activities can promote the development of students' engineering design thought and engineering evaluation thought.(3)With the development of engineering thought, students' practical ability, cooperation ability and language expression ability have also developed to a certain extent. This study provides a practical reference for first-line science teachers to form the engineering thinking of basic education students.
