A Study On The Social Adaptation Of The Elderly In Co-living Communities From A Social Space Perspective

Living together in villages is a practical exploration of rural revitalization in Shandong Province.A series of problems have arisen in the process of policy implementation,which has aroused widespread concern in society and heated discussion in academic circles.The change and imbalance of social space are coupled with the adaptation of social space.However,the local characteristics of the rural elderly have unique and research value in social adaptation.In response to the hot phenomenon of society,this paper introduces the theory of social space,and puts forward the research hypothesis that the social adaptation of the elderly in A community in Shandong Province is essentially a spatial imbalance problem.Combined with the research paradigm of "structure and function",this paper makes an in-depth study on the social adaptation of the elderly in A community in Shandong Province from three dimensions: physical space,meaning space and social space through semi-structured interview and non-participatory observation.This paper finds that in the process of living together in villages,A community pays too much attention to the construction of modern physical space,and transforms the traditional village into a high-rise community,which is out of harmony with its production and life and surpasses the development stage of the local community,resulting in the disharmony between physical space and meaning space.The reorganization of physical space and the reconstruction of meaning space have disintegrated the original social space,making it difficult to create new social relations,resulting in the disharmony among physical space,meaning space and social space.The imbalance of space has caused the social adaptation of the rural elderly.At the level of physical space,the elderly become disciplined persons in living space,dependent persons in livelihood space and free persons in public space.In terms of meaning space,the spatial production of the old people's imagination is misplaced,the spatial production of emotion lags behind,the old spatial order loses its effectiveness in the new space,and the establishment of the new order space depends on the reverse socialization of children.In terms of social space,the separation of social distance space and the marginalization of social role space make the elderly in a weak position.To sum up,under the guidance of social space theory,in order to solve the social adaptation problem of the rural elderly living in villages and communities,it is necessary to improve the adaptability of individuals,promote the reproduction of space,achieve the balance of space production,pay attention to the space reconstruction of internal drive,give play to the subjective initiative of local residents,and promote the coordination between regional modernization and human modernization,so as to achieve space justice.
