Current affairs material is current,vibrant and relevant.It is an essential teaching resource for the senior secondary civics classroom.The complementarity of current affairs materials with high school civics textbooks allows current affairs materials to make up for the lagging nature of high school civics textbooks,which can supplement the ever-changing civics classroom content.In order to investigate the actual situation,the questionnaire method,exploring the current situation of the actual use of current affairs political material in high school civics class was taken,and the problems that existed in the use of current affairs political material in the teaching process of high school civics class were analyzed,namely,the school’s focus on current affairs political material only on the achievement of knowledge objectives;the lack of depth in the use of current affairs political material;and the status of the subject of ideology and politics to be improved.Problems in the use of current affairs political material in the teaching of high school civics were explored,namely,the lack of emphasis on current affairs political education;the high demands of current affairs political material on the teaching of civics;and the lack of a curriculum evaluation mechanism for the use of current affairs political material in high school civics.Based on the empirical research observation method,the collaboration of civics teachers with rich teaching experience is discussed,which can lead to specific strategies for the use of current affairs political material by high school civics teachers;namely,building a special curriculum for current affairs political education;cooperation between schools and various parties in developing current affairs political teaching resources;strategic ways of using current affairs political material in high school civics;and an interactive teaching evaluation mechanism should be formed in civics classes.
