The Period of the Republic of China was a period of frequent mathematical exchanges between China and foreign countries,as well as an important period of the development of modern mathematics.During this period,students studying abroad became an important bridge and main channel for sino-Western exchanges.The Republic of China was also a period of great achievements of Chinese mathematicians,which had a profound influence on the development of modern Mathematics in China.Sichuan is located in the southwest,its education modernization started late,but developed quickly.Although the majority of scholars studying in Japan in Sichuan area,the influence of scholars studying in Europe is more far-reaching in the field of mathematics.Taking the period of the Republic of China as the time interval,this paper analyzes the important contributions made by the returned students in the establishment of mathematics in Sichuan,the spread of mathematics education and the development of mathematics research.This research adopts archival research method and literature research method.The author has visited Chongqing Archives,Chengdu Archives and Library,Ancient Books Library of Chongqing University,Ancient Books Library of Southwest University,the Second Historical Archives of China and other places to inquire about the primary documents related to scholars studying in Europe.I collected books on the history of Overseas study in Europe,overseas study groups,almanacs in the Period of the Republic of China,mathematics education in Sichuan and other topics,and combed and analyzed them based on historical documents.The specific work is as follows:1.An analysis of the funding methods and overseas study background of Mathematicians in SichuanOn the basis of the collected historical materials,the paper sorted out the "brief files of the teachers who stayed in Europe in colleges and universities in Sichuan area",and based on this,combined with the perspective of sociology,analyzed the overseas study background,the subsidized ways and expenses,and the regional distribution and characteristics of the overseas study of the sichuan mathematics scholars in the Republic of China.2.The analysis of the research work on the establishment of mathematics and advanced mathematics in Sichuan by the mathematicians studying in EuropeThe students studying in Europe have laid a solid foundation for the localization of mathematics in Sichuan.Institutionalization is divided into the foundation period from1912 to 1923,the start-up period from 1923 to 1937 and the development period from1937 to 1949.He Lu,Duan Zixie,Guo Jianbai and Wei Shizhen,the first generation of mathematicians studying in Europe,were in their initial stage of mathematical institutionalization in Sichuan.The second and third generation of European mathematicians ke Zhao,Zeng Jiong,Li Huazong and other mathematical scientific research in Sichuan area is a period of development.By exploring the work of students studying in Europe,the development of mathematics in Sichuan is clarified.At the same time,to study abroad in sichuan province during the period of the republic of China to keep the European mathematicians process analysis,combined with Europe's mathematics major changes for the scholars at that time the trend and direction of learning,and access to home school teachers reflect the quality of learning,the left European mathematicians abroad,explore for European mathematicians mathematical institution in sichuan and the source of mathematical research.3.The influence of mathematical thoughts of European mathematicians on middle school mathematics education in SichuanMathematicians from The Eu are generally involved in mathematics education in secondary schools.They participate in the construction of secondary schools,have systematic curriculum compilation ideas,compile mathematics textbooks,participate in the front-line mathematics teaching in middle schools,actively publish teaching and research papers on curriculum reform,carry on the dissemination of mathematics culture.Through reading these papers,we can dig out mathematicians' thoughts on mathematics education and provide useful reference for middle school mathematics education at present.In general,it was under the guidance and promotion of overseas students that the mathematical institutionalization and mathematical research in Sichuan were carried out in an orderly way.They set up higher mathematics courses,compiled textbooks and expanded teachers,which laid a solid foundation for the mathematics institution in Sichuan.Carrying out mathematical research and training local mathematicians further promoted academic research in Sichuan;Establish secondary schools,participate in secondary teaching,spread and exchange mathematical culture through writing secondary mathematics teaching papers.The outstanding contributions and mathematical thoughts of mathematicians have enriched the history of studying abroad in Sichuan,and the integration of mathematical history and mathematics education has also promoted the "curriculum thinking and politics".The history of mathematics is a tool for students to learn and understand mathematics,and it is of great practical significance to improve students' core accomplishment of mathematics.
