The influencing factors of academic achievement is a heated topic of educational psychology in both domestic and international researches.Academic achievement is the result of the combined effect of individual and environmental factors.Studies have shown that academic support can predict academic achievement,and together with other factors may affect academic achievement.The current study takes middle school students as the subjects,exploring the influence of academic support,academic grit and learning engagement on the academic achievement of middle school students.This study has two research contents.The first study is the translation of the Academic Grit Scale to test whether the Chinese version of that scale can be an effective measurement tool for further research.The second study explores the characteristics of academic support,academic grit and learning engagement and the influence mechanism of academic support on academic achievement.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Middle school students' perceived parental support and teacher support differed significantly in grades,and the seventh graders scored highest in both categories.Middle school students' perceived peer support and teacher support are significantly different in class cadre,class cadre students perceive higher peer support and teacher support,and the student cadre's academic grit and learning engagement scores are significantly higher than generally students.Middle school students' academic grit and learning engagement are significantly different in grades,the seventh-grade students have the highest academic grit and learning engagement scores.(2)Middle school students' academic support,academic grit,learning engagement and academic achievement are significantly positively correlated.(3)Learning engagement plays a completely mediating role between academic support and academic achievement.Learning engagement plays a completely mediating role between academic grit and academic achievement.Learning engagement plays a completely mediating role between academic grit and Chinese achievement,and plays a partial mediating role between academic grit and Math or English achievement.(4)Academic grit and academic engagement play a chain mediating role between academic support and academic achievement.Academic support can improve students' academic grit,which in turn increases learning engagement and promotes academic achievement.This study reveals the mechanism of middle school students' academic support influencing their academic achievement,which has beneficial inspiration for the promotion of middle school students' academic support and the improvement of their academic achievement.
