As the most basic and vital subject,Chinese is an essential precondition and it plays the most fundamental role among all subjects.With the continuous development of the new curriculum reform,we can clearly sense the importance of "reading teaching" in Chinese teaching.The new curriculum standard clearly states: "Language is not only the most important communication tool and information carrier to human but also an important part of human culture." It can be seen that the basic characteristics of Chinese are instrumentality and humanity.As a language tool,Chinese plays an important role in the students' learning activities and lives in elementary schools.Reading teaching is an important part of Chinese teaching in elementary schools.“Listening,speaking,reading,writing” which are called the Chinese attainments are included in reading teaching.The significance of teaching reading effectively is shown as followings.Effective reading teaching can help elementary students expand their knowledge.It can enhance their cultural attainments.And it helps the students grow up in influence and have a better understanding of the world.In this way,the students can have the formation of a correct outlook on life,values and world views.At present,there are a lot of problems in Chinese reading teaching in rural primary schools,and the appeared problems are worrisome.For example,many rural schools blindly pursue the students' examination scores.The front-line teachers in rural areas are willing to emphasize the language points of the text itself without extracurricular extension.The teachers pays much attention to the recitation and dictation of new words and the text.The neglect is that the class should be students-oriented so that the students can cooperate and explore.Therefore,some practical problems appeared as followings.Attention hasn't been paid to reading teaching.There is only a single teaching model.No breakthroughs of important and difficult points,and basically no reading method taught in the process of reading teaching.Based on the theoretical basis of effective reading teaching,this article took the Chinese reading teaching in N rural elementary school in Taoyuan as an example to analyze and explore the current situation of the effectiveness of Chinese reading teaching and learning in rural elementary schools.The survey method was used to summarize the reasons that affect the effectiveness of reading teaching in rural schools.Then several targeted teaching strategies were proposed for improvement.
