With the continuous reform of curriculum standards,China has been increasing the training of innovative talents. For the cultivation of innovative talents, improving students' ability to ask questions has become one of the key factors. This paper aims to implement the requirements of the curriculum standards on students' ability to propose mathematical problems, and to study the status quo and influencing factors of junior middle school students' ability to propose mathematical problems. In this paper,257 students from two middle schools in Urumqi were selected as the research objects.Based on the existing literature on junior middle school students' ability to propose mathematical problems,a suitable survey test paper and questionnaire were designed for junior middle school students in Urumqi.Through the analysis of the survey results, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall ability level of mathematics problems of junior high school students in Urumqi is low, half of the students only reach the passing level, and no students reach the excellent level. On the whole, the students' thinking ability is weak,in which the students perform better in the number of questions, showing a strong thinking fluency, but the students perform poorly in the types of questions and novelty, indicating that the flexibility and originality of their thinking is weak. There are significant differences in students' ability to ask mathematical questions in different situations.Students' ability to ask mathematical questions in semi-structured,unstructured and mathematical internal situations is better than that in structured and non-mathematical internal situations. It is found that there is no difference between students of different genders in mathematics question asking ability. However, students of different grades have different abilities to propose mathematical problems due to their different knowledge and courses.Among them, students of grade 9 have stronger ability to propose mathematical problems, while students of grade 7 have the worst ability to propose mathematical problems.(2)The factors affecting students' ability to propose questions include: students' own personality and habits, interest in mathematics, problem awareness, questioning spirit, reflective ability, questioning experience, etc.;Teachers' factors include: lack of students' ability to raise questions, lack of guidance for students to ask questions, and pay little attention to students who ask questions;Environmental factors include classroom atmosphere, companion atmosphere and the design of classroom teaching activities. In order to cultivate students' ability to propose questions, this paper puts forward the following strategies: teachers should set up appropriate question situations in class and pay attention to the cultivation of students' question consciousness;Change the teaching way of teachers, improve the way of questioning in teaching;Create a good harmonious classroom atmosphere, the scientific distribution of classroom time.Students should dare to criticize and question, improve their awareness of questioning;Develop the habit of reflection and develop divergent thinking;Actively participate in classroom activities to enhance communication and cooperation between students;Master the method of asking questions, enhance the confidence of asking questions.
