Mathematics is a very important subject in the process of junior high school students’ education.Learning mathematics well can lay a good foundation for students’ subsequent learning.Students are interfered by many factors in the process of learning mathematics.The rapid development of education makes mathematics teachers not only pay attention to the teaching of mathematics knowledge,but also pay attention to the learning characteristics of students.Due to the different environments in which students grow up,there will be certain differences in the personality characteristics formed by students in the process of growing up.In the process of mathematics learning,the preferred learning methods are also different.These factors will affect the students’ mathematics performance.Therefore,mathematics teachers cannot simply explain mathematics knowledge to students in teaching,and do not pay attention to the differences between students.The students’ differences in mathematics should be considered in the process of imparting mathematics knowledge,and appropriate teaching methods should be selected to carry out mathematics teaching.Mathematics learning style is one of the differences among individual students.In the field of education,mathematics learning style has been paid more and more attention by scholars.The main purpose of this paper is to understand the types of mathematics learning styles preferred by junior high school students,whether there are differences in mathematics learning styles between different grades and genders of junior high school students,and the correlation between mathematics learning styles and mathematics performance.Helping teachers and students realize the importance of mathematics learning styles and focusing on this difference in teaching will help teachers to better teach and improve students’ academic performance.This paper adopts the mathematics learning style scale for middle school students.First,it sorts out the definitions and types of learning styles and mathematics learning styles.It analyzes the types of mathematics learning style preferences of students in each grade of the three grades of junior high school.The differences between grades and whether there are differences in mathematics learning styles of boys and girls in each grade were analyzed,and then the correlation between learning styles and mathematics academic performance was analyzed,and finally suggestions were made to teachers and students.The research conclusions show that:(1)The mathematics learning styles of the first-year students are sequential,intuitive,verbal and active;the mathematics learning styles of the second-year students are contemplative,sequential,intuitive and visual;the third-year students Mathematics learning styles tend to be contemplative,perceptive,comprehensive,and verbal.(2)Mathematics for junior high school studentsThere are differences in learning styles in grades,in the dimensions of mathematical information perception and mathematical information comprehension,but there is no obvious difference in mathematical information processing and mathematical information input.(3)First-year students in mathematicsThere are gender differences in the dimension of information input,but no significant differences in other dimensions;there is no significant difference in the mathematics learning style of the second grade students,and there are obvious differences in the mathematical information processing,mathematical information perception,and mathematical information input dimensions of the students in the third grade.There is no significant difference in the dimension of mathematical information comprehension.(4)The mathematics learning style of junior high school students is related to mathematics achievement.We cannot define the quality of mathematics learning style.Students should have a clear understanding of their own mathematics learning style.Only by constantly developing their own mathematics learning style in learning can they be more conducive to mathematics learning.Teachers should also gradually understand the students’ mathematics learning style in teaching,and adjust their teaching methods according to the characteristics of their mathematics learning style,so that students can make the greatest progress in learning.
