Mathematics textbooks provide learning themes,basic clues and knowledge structure for students' mathematics learning activities.They are also important resources for achieving mathematics curriculum objectives and implementing mathematics teaching.As far as Jiangsu province is concerned,schools use the textbooks of Jiangsu science edition which is considered to have some shortcomings during daily teaching.What's more,PEP edition is the leading textbook in China,so the writer often complements teaching resources by comparing them.Textbooks of PEP edition and Jiangsu science edition are different in layout and content,and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.Thus it is meaningful and significant to make a comparative study of the two editions.Equation plays an important role in junior middle school mathematics.This paper takes equations as examples to make a comparative study.In this paper,literature research,observation,experiment and other methods are included to make a comparative study of PEP edition and Jiangsu science edition.When analyzing the related literature of textbook comparison,it's obvious that more theoretical studies rather than practical studies are carried out.Therefore,this paper makes a comparative study of the equation parts in the textbooks of PEP edition and Jiangsu science edition from a practical point of view.In particular,the experimental teaching of univariate quadratic equation is employed,and a conclusion is drawn.Through the comparative study,it is found that there are some differences in equations between PEP and Jiangsu science edition.Secondly,the layout and the focus of each chapter are different;Also,the types and numbers of topics set in each summary vary a lot.After practical research,this paper puts forward the teaching strategies: In the part of introducing equations,we adopt the method in PEP textbooks,selecting simple practical problems,simplifying them after students list equations,and exploring the definition of equations;When solving equations,the questions listed in the two editions of textbooks are of high quality,but the number of the questions in the Jiangsu science edition is large,so teachers should pay attention to the demonstration of example format and the selection of questions.Moreover,students should refer to the PEP edition textbook and add a small amount of application to arouse the awareness of equation application;As for practical problems and equations,we can adopt the layout of the content in the textbooks of Jiangsu science edition,and teachers can do other research on the types of practical problems in the textbook of PEP edition.
