Mathematics extracurricular activities are the supplement and extension of mathematics classroom teaching.They have the characteristics of openness,innovation,flexibility,diversity,practicality,autonomy and selectivity.Effectively carrying out mathematics extracurricular activities is conducive to improving students' practical ability,cultivating students' divergent thinking and rigorous attitude,stimulating students' interest in mathematics,consolidating classroom knowledge and promoting mathematics classroom teaching.The importance of mathematics extracurricular activities is self-evident.In order to further understand the development of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school in Saihan District of Hohhot and promote the implementation of mathematics extracurricular activities,this paper carries out research from four aspects: first,the research on the current situation of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school;The second is the research on Teachers' and students' understanding and attitude towards mathematics extracurricular activities;Third,research on the factors affecting the implementation of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school;The fourth is the strategy research to improve the effective development of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school.Firstly,using the method of literature analysis,this paper defines the concepts of "extracurricular activities" and "mathematics extracurricular activities",further expounds the relationship between "mathematics extracurricular activities" and "comprehensive practical activities",and also expounds the characteristics,functions and relevant theoretical basis of mathematics extracurricular activities,so as to provide solid guidance for this research in theory.Secondly,using the methods of teacher interview and student questionnaire,this paper investigates the current situation of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school.Through the interview with8 teachers in Hohhot and the in-depth analysis of 350 student questionnaires effectively recovered,it is found that the development of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school in Saihan District of Hohhot is not optimistic.Finally,using the method of case analysis,the author designed three activity cases,such as the practice of "measuring the height of the flagpole","factorization" competition,"five pointed star and golden section" story,and carried out practical research in the form of mathematics community in the internship school.Students can not only develop their interest in learning and practice in one semester,but also improve their learning ability through practical activities.To sum up,this study draws the following conclusions:(1)most students have a correct understanding of mathematics extracurricular activities.They believe that participating in extracurricular activities is helpful to mathematics learning,and hope to improve their practical operation ability and broaden their mathematical vision through various mathematics activities.(2)Some teachers lack a correct understanding of mathematics extracurricular activities.Under the pressure of the examination system,they ignore the organization and guidance of mathematics extracurricular activities,and do not focus on cultivating students' core literacy in mathematics extracurricular activities.(3)At present,the development of mathematics extracurricular activities in junior middle school in Saihan District of Hohhot is not optimistic,and there are many problems.For example,schools do not pay enough attention to mathematics extracurricular activities,lack of evaluation system for mathematics extracurricular activities,lack of incentive mechanism for teachers,poor subjective initiative of students,lack of innovation in the form of mathematics extracurricular activities,etc.After this practice and research,the following suggestions are made for the development of junior middle school mathematics extracurricular activities:(1)pay attention to the review and reflection of mathematics extracurricular activities;(2)the school should establish a teacher incentive mechanism;(3)the school should establish a scientific evaluation system of mathematics extracurricular activities;(4)develop local cultural resources and form characteristic extracurricular activities;(5)use the network to carry out extracurricular activities;(6)actively create an atmosphere of campus activities...
