The development of science and technology puts forward new requirements for talent training,encourages the development of innovative talents and skilled talents,and conforms to the development concept of steam education.Steam is an organic integration of five disciplines: Science,technology,engineering,art and mathematics.Through the integration and application of interdisciplinary knowledge,steam solves problems based on real situations in the process of project production,which is in line with China's practical and innovative educational philosophy.It is a trend of education in the new era.In 2017,the guiding outline of comprehensive practical activities courses for primary and secondary schools advocated that basic education should carry out teaching activities based on students' exploration and experience,so that students can form the ability to find problems in exploration and experience.In junior middle school in China,the teaching of different subjects is implemented,and the links between the subjects are not very close,and students have less opportunities to practice.Therefore,carrying out scientific inquiry activities under the steam education concept in junior middle school is conducive to students' experience inquiry,learning to comprehensively use multidisciplinary knowledge to solve problems based on real situations,cultivating students' ability to find and solve problems,and promoting the progress of integrating steam education into practical teaching.Based on this,this study analyzes the characteristics of steam education and its theoretical basis,finds its coincidence with scientific inquiry,proposes a steam activity process integrating scientific inquiry,so as to carry out steam activities based on scientific inquiry,and studies how to effectively integrate steam education concepts into scientific inquiry activities.What improvements will students get through this activity? By analyzing the students' learning situation,combining the school characteristics and teaching resources,the author designed a scientific inquiry activity with the theme of "design and production of mole robot",carried out teaching design and carried out teaching practice in the scientific and technological innovation community of Dongguan D middle school.Before the implementation,the students' learning ability is investigated through classroom observation and unstructured interview to determine the feasibility of the implementation of activities.In the implementation stage,students understand the working principle of the mole robot through exploration,design and manufacture its appearance,and use technology engineering thinking to adjust the overall structural framework,so that students can experience the exploration and obtain scientific knowledge from the exploration.This research mainly evaluates and analyzes the teaching effect through classroom observation and interview,so as to verify that the combination of steam idea and scientific inquiry idea can cultivate students' ability to solve problems by using multidisciplinary knowledge,and improve students' practical ability and innovation ability.Finally,the research is summarized and the deficiencies are reflected.
