What the society needs in the future is people with comprehensive qualities and abilities, and the only criterion is no longer grades. Therefore,in education, new methods, means and models are emerging day by day.In recent years, the documents on education issued by the General Office of the Central Government and the State Council of China have mentioned project-based learning many times.Project-based learning is a new curriculum model.Currently, researches on project-based learning in subject areas are mostly focused on Chinese, mathematics,English, and information technology classes, and very little research has been done in physical education subjects.Among the studies in these subject areas, the academic segments of the objects are concentrated in high school and higher education, and there is less project-based learning in elementary school level. In today's world of deepening educational reform,project-based learning can meet the needs of future school sports.Therefore,project-based learning is the current, and even more so,the future trend for students to engage in effective learning. In this paper,we take fifth grade students in elementary school as the experimental object, mainly using the teaching experiment method, according to the characteristics, components and teaching process of project-based learning, combined with the school section curriculum standards, and designed a martial arts unit teaching program to study the application effect of project-based learning in elementary school physical education teaching,The following conclusions were drawn.(1)Project-based learning can improve students' theoretical knowledge of Long Fist of Wushu Duan 2,but has little effect on skills and physical ability. The final assessment of the unit teaching showed that students in the experimental class had significantly higher knowledge of theoretical knowledge than students in the control class, and students in the experimental class deepened their knowledge of Wushu and learned the historical background of the Yuanyang Array by exploring problems and communicating with each other. There was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in terms of movement skills in Long Fist of Wushu Duan 2,but the experimental class learned extra difficult movements and tried to choreograph martial arts movements. There was no significant difference between the students' pre-and post-experimental tests in terms of physical ability,so the effect of project-based learning on students' skills and physical ability was not significant.(2)Project-based learning can increase students' interest in learning. In this experiment, the project-based learning that the students tried was quite different from the traditional teaching model. The novel curriculum model and evaluation methods improved the students' interest in learning martial arts, and the students were more willing to participate in physical activities.(3)Project-based learning can improve students' attitudes toward learning physical education classes. In the experiments of project-based learning, students' attention was significantly improved, and students could be seen to actively engage in discussions and take the initiative to complete learning tasks in group discussions. When problems are found in the learning process, students can take the initiative to think about how to solve the problems and will think about how to make the martial arts movements better.(4)Project-based learning can improve students' affective performance and cooperative spirit. In this experiment, the classroom using project-based learning, students are optimistic about the difficulties they encounter in the learning process. In project-based learning, students communicate more, they listen to others, take the initiative to help their classmates, and respect the needs and interests of their peers and work together for learning goals.Communication and cooperation is one of the most basic skills of project-based learning. In a traditional classroom, students spend most of their time passively listening to lectures and practicing alone.Project-based learning interacts in a productive way and stimulates teamwork to successfully accomplish their goals, giving students the opportunity to identify and solve interpersonal challenges.(5)Project-based learning can improve students' health behaviors. In this experiment, students using project-based learning gradually increase their interest in physical activities, learn and practice martial arts spontaneously and actively, and practice after class in a planned manner in order to perform well in the final presentation of results,so the learning driven by projects helps students develop good living habits and fitness habits.
