With the rapid development of the economy and society, there has been an influx of people from rural areas to work in the cities, and the rapid movement of people to the cities has led to a high number of "left-behind children in rural areas".However, children left behind are not a homogeneous group, and children left behind by single-parent families have the characteristics of "single parents" while being "left behind".At a time of high self-awareness,single-parent left-behind children are more prone to isolation, low self-esteem,self-doubt and low self-acceptance,which can seriously affect their personality traits and social competence as they grow older. In this study,single-parent left-behind children aged 11-16 in two schools in Naiman Banner,Tongliao City, were used as the target population to collect data using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to analyze the self-acceptance status and problems of single-parent left-behind children. The study found that, under the influence of personal, family and peer factors,single-parent left-behind children had a low level of self-acceptance in general, mainly in four areas: physical conditions, personal abilities and emotions, family situation and low interpersonal acceptance. The study then adopted a casework approach, guided by cognitive behavioral theory and rational emotion therapy,to provide intervention services to a single-parent left-behind child with low self-acceptance.The intervention programme was designed and implemented in three dimensions: family acceptance,self-acceptance and interpersonal acceptance, with the aim of helping the client to weaken irrational emotions and Perceptions and construct rational beliefs,so as to achieve the effect of improving self-acceptance.The results of the evaluation show that the service objectives were largely achieved and the level of self-acceptance of the caseworkers was effectively increased.Through the case study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1.the self-acceptance level of single-parent left-behind children is generally low and needs professional help;2.rational emotion therapy is effective in changing the deviant cognition of single-parent left-behind children;3.the casework approach is effective in improving the self-acceptance level of single-parent left-behind children.Based on this, the follow-up study can further explore the effective ways for social work to help single-parent left-behind children to build up a high level of self-acceptance while adjusting the intervention methods and guidance concepts. It is hoped that this study will provide some basis for research and services for single-parent left-behind children, and provide some useful reference and help for social work practice and clinical practice in related fields.
