In contemporary society,it has become an important way for universities to serve society by stepping out of the "ivory tower" to engage in part-time social activities.Social part-time jobs for university teachers refer to the activities and behaviors in which teachers provide knowledge,skills and mental labor services for third parties other than their professional work units,so as to obtain information,knowledge,material and other resources to enhance their professional development and social influence.It is an expression of university teachers' knowledge application,and it is also an important way for universities to enhance their social influence.With the continuous development of the era of knowledge economy,the social part-time job of university teachers is playing an increasingly important role in the interaction between social and economic development and the higher education system,and the era has given university teachers a new connotation and extension of social part-time jobs.The research results can not well explain the connotation,theoretical support,and current status of activities of university teachers' social part-time jobs.Based on this,this research is based on the previous research,and by combining the multiple institutional logics theory and the "economic man" hypothesis theory,it conducts an in-depth study on the current situation,causes,social influence,and contradictions of university teachers' social part-time jobs.The results showed that among the 478 valid questionnaires,the social part-time participation of university teachers was 51.05%.From the perspective of individual characteristics,there are significant differences between university teachers' social part-time jobs and five variables(gender,subject category,tutor status,after-tax annual income,and income satisfaction),and there are no significant differences between university teachers' social part-time jobs and five variables(teaching time,age,professional title,education,and marital status).From the perspective of cognitive status,university teachers generally tend to support rather than oppose the phenomenon of social part-time jobs.In terms of participation level,half of the university teachers work part-time social work for no more than 4 hours per week.Judging from the degree of participation,the field of social part-time activities of university teachers is mainly in universities,enterprises,and institutions,and the activities are mainly in off-campus part-time courses and consultants.Judging from the current situation of norms,most universities lack proper approval and classification management for teachers' social part-time jobs.It's worth noting that,through interviews with 15 university teachers,it can be found that university teachers should engage in social part-time activities without delaying their own work;most university teachers have low awareness of social part-time norms related to the country and schools.In addition,from the perspective of motivation,we can analyze the behavioral logic of teachers' social part-time jobs.From the perspective of motivation,the social part-time job of university teachers is not only affected by the internal logic of teachers' individual development and professional development,but also restricted by external logic such as university academic logic,policy logic,and social market economic logic.Furthermore,the social part-time job of university teachers is helpful to meet the real life needs of their “economic man” identity and promote the social value of their professional activities.It can shorten the distance between the university and society and maintain the social reputation of knowledge service.However,under the influence of multiple institutional logic theory,teachers' social part-time jobs will also face some practical problems,such as teacher's social part-time job is easy to increase the pressure of their own work;the dislocation of the university system is difficult to regulate and guarantee part-time teachers;the limited role of policies and regulations restricts the management of part-time teachers;the conflict between social and academic logic restricts part-time teachers,etc.Given this,the society should improve the information supply and demand platform,and focus on guiding teachers' knowledge appreciation of social services;the country should improve relevant laws and regulations,also optimize the existing policies and rules;universities should implement the social part-time management system and norms,improve teachers' work environment support;teachers should pay more attention to the connection between their work and social part-time jobs,and restrain themselves with their ethics.In short,universities,countries,society and other stakeholders should objectively view the value effect and practical problems of teachers' part-time jobs,standardize management,optimize the institutional environment,and promote their due academic and social value.
