Research Progress Of Student Affairs Management In American Universities (2010—2019)

As an important part of university management,the status of university student affairs management in universities has gradually received attention.In the process of talent training,in order to realize the overall development of students' morality,intelligence,physical education,and art,colleges and universities pay more and more attention to the impact of campus activities outside the classroom on college students.As the birthplace of student affairs management,the United States has been rich in theory and practice after nearly a hundred years of accumulation and development.However,with the development of economic globalization and information technology,what new changes will there be in the study of student affairs in the United States? In the context of the internationalization of higher education,what new challenges does the development of student affairs face?First of all,this study sorts out the development context of student affairs management in American universities and clarifies the changes in its functions.Based on the Web of Science database,with the help of Citespace research tools to visualize the knowledge map of the research hot-spots,frontiers and trends of student affairs management in the United States from 2010 to 2019,the characteristics of the research are obtained: First,the mufti-cultural symbiosis of campus culture is the direction of endeavor;Second,the mental health of medical students is one of the key areas;third,collaboration with academic affairs is a frontier topic of research.Then,using the same method based on the CNKI database,the characteristics of the research progress are obtained: first,it focuses on the training of student affairs professionals;second,the multicultural campus is a big challenge;third,the cooperation between student affairs and academic affairs has become New hotspot.Compare the similarities and differences of research progress from the journals,research institutions,and research subjects.Secondly,it summarizes the research progress of American student affairs management: First,the research field is broadened,and student affairs and academic affairs are intertwined;second,the theory is widely used,focusing on practical problems from the perspective of new theories;third,the research methods are diverse and breaking A research paradigm based on quantitative research;fourth,the research situation is changing and American student affairs encounters many new challenges;fifth,the focus of research topics,fairness and justice is still the goal of constant pursuit.Finally,the enlightenment for the research on the management of student affairs in my country's universities is drawn: first,the research field is tilted to the micro level,focusing on the practice of student affairs in universities;second,broadening the theoretical perspective and promoting interdisciplinary research;third,promoting the diversification of research methods,Strengthen empirical research;fourth,more conform to the development of the times and attach importance to mental health education.Fifth,the research topic is based on the local area,focusing on the professionalization of student affairs professionals.Based on the above analysis,combined with the practice of student affairs management in my country's universities,we have drawn its enlightenment for student affairs management in my country's universities.One is to support and develop the professional capabilities of student affairs practitioners in universities and the other is to strengthen the ethics of student affairs personnel.To standardize construction,the third is to innovate student affairs management methods.
