Education is a central topic for adolescents and their families.Among them, educational expectations can reflect family members' expectations and predictive cognition of the children's access to the highest level of education in the future. However, both life experience and empirical research have found that the differences between parents' educational expectations and their children's own educational expectations are widespread.Such differences and educational expectations themselves can affect the development of adolescents. Therefore,it is of practical significance to explore the influence of educational expectations and intergenerational differences on the adolescents' psychosocial development. It is worth noting that the existing research makes less distinction between parents' actual educational expectations and children's perceived educational expectations. In this study, educational expectations are divided into parents' actual educational expectations, adolescents' educational expectations and perceived educational expectations.Correspondingly, the intergenerational differences include the differences between parents' actual educational expectations and children's own educational expectations, and the differences between perceived educational expectations and children's own educational expectations.Based on literature combing and the three theoretical models of ego-identity theory, identity control theory and selfdiscrepancy theory, this paper discusses the following problems.Firstly,is there any difference between parents' educational expectations and perceived educational expectations, and how will parental educational expectations affect the perceived educational expectations? Secondly, what kind of families are more likely to have intergenerational educational expectation differences? Thirdly, will educational expectations affect the psychosocial development of the teenagers? Fourthly, how will differences in educational expectations affect the adolescents' psychosocial development?Based on the follow-up data of CEPS 2014-2015,this paper uses the null model to test the influence of schools' characteristics, selects the multi-level linear regression model, and uses the fixed effect model to control the possible heterogeneity between schools. The results of data analysis are as follows.Firstly, there are differences between parents' actual educational expectations and their children's perceived educational expectations, and the former has a significant impact on the latter.Secondly, the differences in educational expectations are different in the distribution of gender, household registration, single child, migration experience and family socio-economic status.Families with the characteristics of male children,non-agricultural household registration, migration mobility experience, low socio-economic status are more likely to show differences in intergenerational educational expectations.Thirdly, adolescents' own educational expectations, parents' educational expectations and perceived educational expectations all have an impact on the psychosocial development of adolescents.Meanwhile, parents' educational expectations will affect the psychosocial development of adolescents through the perceived educational expectations.Fourthly, the intergenerational differences significantly affect the psychosocial development of adolescents. The larger the differences, the greater the negative effect.According to the conclusion of the study, this paper tries to put forward some suggestions on the social work intervention as well.
