At present,our country is in the high speed development period of social transformation.In order to realize the effective promotion of the spatial allocation of economic elements,a large number of rural surplus labor force in our country is transferred to the city,and some of them choose to carry their children out together.Because the dual system of urban and rural areas still exists in our country,most of the children who move out with their parents can not settle the town,which forms a special group——migrant children under the background of population mobility.According to the National Statistics Bulletin on the Development of Education in 2019,there are 14.2696 million migrant children in China,an increase of about 600 thousand migrant children over 2015.With the increasing scale of migrant children,the research on the academic development of migrant children has become a hot topic.The family is the main source of support for migrant children,they leave their hometown with their parents to come to strange cities to go to school,in the face of a new and more complex environment,especially need the support and help of the family system.However,most of the academic attention to migrant children's studies is focused on the level of school education,ignoring the impact of the special background of migrant children's family education on their academic performance.The study on the relationship between parents' involvement and their academic achievement is weak.Therefore,this paper intends to conduct an empirical study on the impact of parental involvement on the academic achievement of migrant children.On the basis of the theory of family social capital,Using data from the 2013-2014 baseline of the China Education Panel Survey.Taking migrant children as the research object,using the method of descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.From the two aspects of parents' involvement within the family and parents' involvement outside the family,this paper discusses the present situation of parents' involvement in migrant families in China and its influence on the academic achievement of migrant children.The results showed that:(1)The migrant children's families are affected by their low social economic status and their own mobility.The level of parental involvement within their families and the level of parental involvement outside the family as a whole is low and there are significant differences in the degree of involvement in household registration.(2)Migrant children perform well in Chinese,followed by mathematics,poor in English,and group difficulties in English learning.In addition,it was found that there were gender differences in the academic achievement of migrant children,and the academic achievement of boys was significantly lower than that of girls.(3)Based on parental involvement within the family,after controlling individual differences,family differences and school differences,there was no significant effect on the academic achievement of migrant children in parent-child companionship;parent-child communication had a significant positive impact on the academic achievement of migrant children;parents had higher educational expectations for migrant children,the better their children's academic achievement;excessive parental supervision had a negative impact on the academic achievement of migrant children.Based on parental involvement outside the family,the involvement of parents in home-school cooperative activities provided by schools has not significantly affected the academic achievement of migrant children as a whole;however,the activity of home-school communication between parents and school teachers has shown a significant improvement in the academic achievement of migrant children.Based on the research findings,this paper proposes some methods to improve the academic performance of migrant children: To enhance the awareness of parent-child companionship and parent-child communication,pay attention to communication methods;parents should pay attention to ways and means of supervision of migrant children;parents should help migrant children set reasonable short-term and long-term goals;Strengthen home-school cooperation,carry out home-school activities to enhance home-school communication.
