As stress continues to increase, people become more impulsive in dealing with emotions and food, and it is common for food to be used to deal with emotions-emotional eating.Studies have shown that if a person eats emotionally for a prolonged period of time,it increases the risk of eating disorders. With this in mind, this study focuses on emotional eating in female university students to explore the effects of casework interventions on emotional eating in female university students and whether there are implications. In this study,a female university student in her second year of study was selected as the caseworker and the counselling centre of university X was used to conduct the study.Data were collected and analysed using observational, interview and test methods, and it was found that the client chose food to compensate for emotional needs due to stress and emotional frustration, which brought about eating and emotional distress. As a result,an attempt was made to propose a social work-psychotherapy intervention programme for people with emotional eating disorders. The service is based on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and the establishment of a support network.A series of services are provided to the client through four areas: positive thinking, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance,to regulate emotions and overcome over-eating;and through the establishment of a support network,to reconstruct interpersonal relationships and improve well-being and self-confidence.From the overall service process and assessment results, the following conclusions were drawn: enhancing self-esteem was more effective in helping to improve eating behaviour;an effective support system was a way to improve emotional eating;and developing good eating habits was more effective in alleviating emotional eating. At the same time, casework combined with dialectical behavioural therapy is effective for emotional eating interventions. Its feasibility and effectiveness provide new ideas to alleviate the problem of emotional eating among female university students and can be used by medical social workers.
