Evaluation And Improvement Of Operation Efficiency Of Airlines Based On Three-stage DEA Dissertation

Airlines are the most direct and frequent link in the production chain of civil aviation transportation with passengers.With the acceleration of the marketization process,the civil aviation market has a broader and brighter future.Considering the complex competition of the market,improving the operation efficiency of airlines is very important to promote high-quality development of the industry,as well as conducive to the in-depth promotion of the strategic policy of China’s supply side reform.In this context,it is taken the operational efficiency of airlines as the research target.First of all,the operational efficiency of airlines is defined on the basis of sorting out the previous related studies.After that,the factors that affect the efficiency of airline operations are listed from the macro and micro levels.Finally,based on the above study,a three-stage DEA model was constructed,and principal component analysis was used to reduce dimensionality of relevant indicators required for evaluation,and operation data of 11 global airlines from 2010 to 2019 were used to make operational efficiency evaluation.The results show that the average comprehensive efficiency value,average pure technical efficiency value and average scale efficiency value of the sample all decrease to different degrees after removing the environmental factors,which indicates that the environmental factors have a positive impact on the sample airlines’ operational efficiency.For Chinese airlines,after removing the influence of environmental factors,the performance of comprehensive efficiency decreases in the ranking of sample airlines.The level of pure technical efficiency declined among the sample airlines except for China Airlines.In addition to the China Eastern airlines,the rest of the shipping company scale efficiency value in the sample rank among airlines has different degrees of improvement,but including China Eastern airlines,Chinese airlines’ scale efficiency level is still behind the low-cost airlines.The technology level is in the medium level and have further development space.Airlines need to learn from advanced airline management experience,constantly improve their own operation and management level.At the same time,the airlines need pay attention to the power of the environment,which include keeping up with the trend of policy and paying attention to industry innovation,and then develop in harmony with the environment.From the observation of the development and changes of the returns to scale of Chinese enterprises,it can be seen that the return to scale of Chinese airlines has been declining in recent years,which indicates that the enterprise has experienced a decline in operating efficiency and a rise in costs.It shows that simply expanding the operation scale of enterprises can no longer improve the operation efficiency of airlines.Therefore,airlines need to adjust their internal resource structure,which means make up for their weaknesses,give full play to their strengths,and develop more targeted internal improvement strategies.According to the research results,this paper put forward to improve the operational efficiency of airlines strategy recommendations from the internal and external perspectives.
