With the development of the economy and society, people’s attention to food safety issues has gradually deepened.Cold chain transportation of agricultural products,as an important means of ensuring food freshness and safety, has received increasing attention from more and more people. In order to support the development of cold chain logistics for agricultural products, the government has also set relevant development goals. However, for logistics companies, there are always opportunities and risks. The high or low cost of cold chain logistics for agricultural products will greatly determine the overall development level of cold chain enterprises. Therefore, for agricultural product cold chain logistics companies, effective control of logistics costs can achieve the purpose of improving operational efficiency and profitability, while enhancing market competitiveness. This article uses the system dynamics method to simulate and optimize the logistics costs of cold chain logistics companies for agricultural products in China.Based on the simulation results and analysis of the fluctuations in logistics costs and carbon emissions of logistics companies, corresponding improvement measures are proposed,so as to reduce logistics costs and enhance industry competitiveness. At the same time, the research results of this article will also provide new ideas and case studies for optimizing logistics costs in the cold chain logistics industry. The article first elaborates on the basic concepts of cold chain logistics, the costs of cold chain logistics for agricultural products, and system dynamics theory. This lays a solid theoretical foundation for subsequent research.Based on this, taking the total logistics cost of cold chain logistics for agricultural products as the research object, considering various logistics costs, carbon emissions and other factors, using system dynamics theory, the logistics costs of cold chain logistics companies for agricultural products are modeled and empirically analyzed. Then, with the relevant data of fresh apples in K company’s cold chain logistics as an example, the Vensim simulation software is used to test the validity and simulate the established model.Based on the simulation results, the main reasons for the fluctuation of logistics costs in the enterprise are summarized, and improvement and optimization suggestions are given. Finally, specific measures suitable for controlling and optimizing logistics costs in cold chain logistics companies for agricultural products are proposed.According to the above research, the main conclusions and results are as follows:the total logistics cost of cold chain logistics for agricultural products is mainly dominated by the fluctuations in transportation costs and distribution costs. In addition, carbon emissions are also mainly influenced by the carbon emissions of transportation and distribution. In order to reduce logistics costs, improve logistics efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions, corresponding improvement and optimization strategies are proposed for the transportation costs, storage costs, and distribution costs that have a greater impact on the system, including optimizing transportation distance, optimizing distribution, controlling vehicle load rates, optimizing inventory management, and controlling procurement strategies. In addition, specific optimization measures are proposed to help enterprises improve logistics efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and enhance competitiveness and sustainable development capabilities.
