| Climate warming is a hot topic of concern for the entire human world, and the sudden rise in temperature is inextricably linked to the increase in carbon dioxide emissions.Nowadays, the concept of carbon control has penetrated into many aspects of daily life, enterprise production and social construction, and emission reduction has become one of the key ways to cope with global warming. In September 2022,China formally proposed the "double carbon" target at the 75 th Joint General Assembly, which will be "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutral"."At the same time, carbon tariffs and the marketization of carbon emission rights are superimposed on the binding force of carbon emissions, and the focus of promoting high-quality socio-economic development should be placed on the low-carbon economy. In the process of promoting the development of low-carbon economy,China’s manufacturing industry is the main force of economic development, and is also the key object of attention in emission reduction. At present, the economic growth of China’s manufacturing industry is still in the stage of rough growth, high energy consumption brings high growth of carbon emissions, pushing China’s global ranking of greenhouse gas emissions to the first.Combined with the current international and domestic new development environment,in order to promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing industry, build a strong manufacturing country and achieve high-quality development of China’s economy,low-carbon development of manufacturing industry is an inevitable choice. The Yangtze River Economic Belt is one of the three major support belts in China, and it is also the first demonstration belt in the process of promoting ecological civilization construction, and greening and low-carbon is the focus of the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Over the past decade or so,the Yangtze River Economic Belt has undergone tremendous environmental changes, with regional economic development, technological innovation, energy consumption and many other aspects driving changes in the structure and layout of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, bringing low-carbon momentum to the high-quality economic development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Taking the manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone as the entry point,it is important to study the structural and spatial changes of energy-intensive manufacturing industries under the orientation of low-carbon economic development,to explore the carbon emission decoupling drivers of energy-intensive manufacturing industries among regions in the Yangtze River Economic Zone, and to provide a scientific basis for the selection of emission reduction or decarbonization paths of energy-intensive manufacturing industries, which is important for upgrading China’s industrial structure and greening and decarbonizing industries.Based on this, this thesis firstly compares the literature related to industrial low-carbon development in Yangtze River Economic Belt, defines the mechanism of industrial decarbonization and carbon emission decoupling mechanism, measures the decoupling index of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in Yangtze River Economic Belt by using the decoupling model combined with the input-output table of each province and city in Yangtze River Economic Belt, analyzes the current situation of the relationship between economic development and carbon emission of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in each region, further applies the DSR driving force model, and constructs the high energy-consuming manufacturing industry in terms of economy, technology and green environment, analyze the decoupling ability of high energy-consuming manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone using principal component analysis, and finally provide countermeasure suggestions for reducing or decoupling high energy-consuming manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone. The main conclusions include:(1)The upstream areas of the Yangtze River Economic Belt continue to carry high-energy-consuming manufacturing industries in the middle and lower reaches, with a high degree of agglomeration in the past 11 years, all exceeding 1;(2)The energy consumption of the Yangtze River Economic Belt still relies mainly on coal and oil-based products, and although the consumption of natural gas energy is increasing, the use of a relatively low percentage, with a relatively large energy-saving potential;(3)Since 1997,the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have seen a continuous increase in high-energy-consuming(3)Since1997,carbon emissions from high-energy-consuming manufacturing industries in the Yangtze River Economic Zone have continued to grow, and emissions from the five high-energy-consuming manufacturing industries studied in this thesis alone account for most of the entire industry. The pressure on carbon emissions in Jiangsu Province is still high, and carbon emissions in Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province are growing faster as manufacturing industries continue to move to upstream areas;(4)There is a decoupling between economic growth and carbon emissions in provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region. In recent years, the decoupling relationship in the downstream region is obvious, and the "decoupling" composite index of economic growth and carbon emissions of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in the middle and downstream regions is decreasing in fluctuation, and the potential for emission reduction is large, with strong decoupling in Shanghai and Zhejiang Province, and the emission reduction process of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in Jiangsu Province and Hubei Province has a long way to go;(5)The decoupling of carbon emissions of energy-intensive manufacturing industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region The overall level of economic drivers for decoupling carbon emissions of high energy-consuming manufacturing industries is downward, among which the declining trend of foreign investment-driven indicators is obvious. The technical and environmental drivers of emission reduction in the high-energy-consuming manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone show an upward trend, and the driving advantages of economic development in the upstream region in decoupling carbon emissions from the high-energy-consuming manufacturing industry gradually come to the fore. Finally,in response to the above conclusions, this thesis corresponds to the analysis results of economic, technological and environmental drivers one by one,and proposes countermeasures for decoupling carbon emissions from high-energy-consuming manufacturing industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from various aspects such as industrial structure and layout, energy structure, technology research and development and international cooperation:(1)On strengthening economic drivers: first, accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading, promoting rationalization of the layout of high-energy-consuming manufacturing industries, and enhancing economic drive;secondly,to strengthen the promotion of industrial chain synergy carbon emission decoupling and strengthen inter-regional synergistic development;thirdly,to strengthen international cooperation, attract foreign investment and introduce carbon reduction technology.(2)On strengthening technology drivers: strengthen R&D of emission reduction technologies to empower the transformation and upgrading of high energy-consuming manufacturing industries.(3)On strengthening environmental drivers: First, strengthen the development and utilization of new energy and optimize the energy structure;second, focus on waste recycling and actively explore the space for emission reduction in manufacturing;third, improve and innovate relevant systems to promote active instead of passive constraints and crack institutional barriers to green economic development. |
