The crude development mode has brought about increasingly severe energy, climate, environment and other problems while the rapid economic development.Low-carbon economy has become the only way for global development.Tourism has become the world’s largest comprehensive service industry, which plays an important role in the economic development of various countries. However, its development is also confronted with the contradictory problems of economy and environment.China has become the second largest tourist country in the world, and tourism has become a strategic pillar industry. As an important part of China’s tourism industry, inbound tourism has strong ability to earn foreign exchange, promote employment and regional economic development, and is a link between China and the international cultural exchange.Inbound tourism is highly clustered and complex, and its ecological impact is difficult to assess. Therefore, how to fully release the positive driving force of inbound tourism on the development of China’s tourism economy, control the negative impact of inbound tourism on resources and environment to a minimum level, and achieve energy conservation and emission reduction while maintaining the sustainable growth of tourism economy is an issue worth exploring. This paper selected China’s inbound tourism as the research object,in the context of low-carbon economy and sustainable development, studied and reviewed the literature research results of domestic and foreign tourism carbon emissions and its influencing factors, summarized the relevant terms and concepts in the field of tourism carbon emissions research, introduced the development status of tourism, and elaborated the significance of carbon emissions research of China’s inbound tourism. This paper selects relevant data of China’s inbound tourism development from 2005 to 2019 as research samples.Firstly, the input-output method was used as an econometric model to estimate and evaluate the carbon emissions of China’s inbound tourism industry combined with the IPCC carbon emissions calculation method.Secondly, the Tapio decoupling model is used to evaluate the decoupling between the increase of carbon emissions from China’s inbound tourism industry and the change of foreign exchange income.Thirdly, based on the extended model of Kaya equation and the LMDI decomposition method, this paper analyzes the influencing factors of China’s inbound tourism carbon emissions, and analyzes the contribution of each influencing factor. Finally, based on the research results, puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the low-carbon development of inbound tourism in ChinaAfter research and analysis, this paper draws the following conclusions:China’s inbound tourism industry is developing rapidly, with considerable scale and obvious income generation. It occupies an important position in China’s overall tourism industry and national economy. In the study year, the overall growth trend of direct, indirect and complete carbon emissions of China’s inbound tourism industry is obvious, the carbon emissions of different sectors differ greatly, carbon emission intensity continues to decline, and the overall decoupling relationship between carbon emissions and income is obvious. While the overall carbon emission of inbound tourism is good,it also has a large potential for exploitation and optimization. In the study years, the contribution of different factors to carbon emissions from China’s inbound tourism industry is significantly different, among which energy intensity factor had the strongest negative effect and tourist size factor had the strongest positive effect.
