| With the development of the times and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards,the education of children has received more attention.The existing education model can no longer meet the needs of future social development,and China’s children’s education model has gradually begun to transform towards the STEAM education model,which is an interdisciplinary field education model aiming at cultivating children’s innovation and practical hands-on ability,emphasizing the interaction between multiple disciplines,and cultivating the composite talents needed by the future society.At the same time,STEAM toys based on the STEAM education concept are gradually appearing in the domestic toy market.STEAM toys integrate multidisciplinary knowledge into toy design,arousing children’s interest while allowing children to learn,and cultivating children’s logical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.In recent years,the country has gradually attached importance to the development of paleontological and cultural resources,and the development of cultural and creative industries has shown a rapid momentum.With a vast territory,China has a large number of paleontological fossil resources with high cultural and research values,which are valuable historical and cultural heritages,but have not been well promoted and disseminated.In the context of the country’s vigorous promotion of cultural industries,the promotion of paleontological culture has undoubtedly ushered in an excellent opportunity.Among the many forms of paleontological culture dissemination,the development of cultural and creative products is particularly important.Currently,the paleontological cultural and creative products in the market are single in form and few in variety,which are difficult to arouse consumers’ desire to consume.This paper combines STEAM education and paleontological culture,using the paleontological culture of the Hezheng region in Gansu Province as a cultural element and the STEAM education model as an entry point for design practice.Firstly,we analyzed the significance of STEAM education and STEAM toys for children’s growth,researched and categorized the existing STEAM toys on the market,and summarized the characteristics and design concepts of the existing STEAM toys on the market.Secondly,we conducted a field survey in the paleontological region of Hezheng,obtained relevant information,analyzed the existing paleontological cultural and creative products of Hezheng,compared them with the paleontological cultural and creative products on the market,put forward the shortcomings of them,introduced the concept of STEAM education on this basis,integrated the fun and multidisciplinary attributes of STEAM education into the paleontological culture for innovation,analyzed the feasibility of combining paleontological cultural products with We analyze the feasibility of combining paleontological culture products with STEAM toys,design ideas,add mechanical structure,plug-in structure,color drawing,paper sculpture and other elements to enhance the playability of paleontological culture products,stimulate children’s desire to explore paleontological culture while understanding related subject knowledge,add contextualized design to enhance the fun of the products,form a set of design principles and design methods applicable to this topic This project will provide the theoretical and methodological basis for the design practice of this project.The purpose of this paper is to combine and innovate the STEAM education concept with the paleontological culture of Wazheng,to reflect the educational function of toys in the design,and to devote to the positive impact on children’s growth through the design of toys.At the same time,through the form of STEAM toys to spread the Wazheng paleontological culture,to provide a new way of thinking for the dissemination of paleontological culture,and make their own contribution to the development of China’s cultural industry. |
